I really like King's Ransom and I figured I'd check out that Steel Prophet 80's comp. while I was at it- awesome. I really have to keep an eye on Steel Legacy from now on.

You really do. If you haven't checked out the Cross album they put out a year or two ago, do so, it's probably my favorite thing they've released so far...though I'm not sure if it's readily available any more, unfortunately.

I really liked when Disembowelment pushed the trippy elements of their music over the straightforward doom. They could have really done something great if they had pushed that. Way ahead of the time.

I think Esoteric does a better job at playing the trippy game...I always throw diSEMBOWELMENT on when I need something epically gloomy with really subtle atmosphere dripping evil...

So Ares Kingdom covered Détente on their Failsafe vynil did you know that? It can't beat original of course but no matter, they have some + points for that. Vultures in the Sky has the catchiest Crosby's chorus -

On other note, I'm listening to Evocation's new shit and it's definately above average. I wouldn't say it's great but we'll see. Also it's turning somewhat melodic which isn't really my cup of tea not only when it comes to SWDM.
