SA are mediocre imo; nothing special.
Blind Guardian are better.

SA are hell no where near mediocre. Blind Guardian is good but SA and them are a bit different. But when it comes to Unia and A Twist In The Myth, I would have to go with Blind Guardian.

For some reason the only Savatage I have is Hall of the Mountain King, but it's one of my favorite metal albums. It's just so brilliant; the little guitar fills with awesome reverb, the really catchy hooks that stay completely true, the overdriven vocals, the part where they wrote a ton of fantastic songs, etc.

It is the only one i own as well, but i love it to death.

The new Sunn 0))) record is great. Great, great, great. Can't wait to buy this on vinyl and here it on somelese than my headphones.

Was listening to Riders earlier. Very good; impressive technicality, but not wankery, cool melodies and catchy choruses without becoming gay, and throughout it all maintaining a driving thrash feel. How does From Your Grave compare? I'd hope it's a bit more death metal.

Last few albums/bands that I've heard and really liked:

Covenant- Nexus Polaris
Woods of Ypres- Pursuit of the Sun and Allure of the Earth
Thronar- Unleash the Fire
Summoning- Stronghold
Septic Flesh- Communion
Rivendell- Farewell: The Last Dawn
Augury- Concealed

Why wasn't the Incantation + Amorphis split released? Both sides kick major fucking ass.

I'm becoming obsessed with Septic Flesh. I've only heard their two most recent albums, but they're some incredible pieces of symphonic/atmospheric melodeath.

That was actually pretty good. Keyboards are a little too much at points, but yeah. I very rarely like symphonics in extreme metal. Crazy synth doesn't bother me, but symphonics usually sound lame to me in extreme metal. But they pulled it off, more or less.
