Virus West is the only Nagelfar I don't own, so I can't make a comparison. Hunengrab im Herbst and Srontgorrth are brilliant. Epic and astounding black metal. Contrary to popular opinion, I think Hunengrab... is the best. The electronic influences in Srontgorrth aren't to my liking.

I haven't heard Hunengrab... hm.

Thought I'd mention Ceremonium's "Into the Autumn Shade", it's just hit me that this is absolutely fucking mighty.

I'm listening to Aarni's "Bathos" and my reaction for the moment is along the lines of 'man, this shit is crazy'. I've just gone on another big downloading spree  I can't help it. :(

Winter is probably one of the quintessential bands for quality death/doom.

Evoken, early Morgion, Mourning Beloveth, and early Unholy are also quite excellent.

Some even go so far as to call Asphyx and Autopsy death/doom, though they lie more in the realm of slower death metal, but both bands are worth a look.

You might also try diSEMBOWELMENT. And maybe Visceral Evisceration.

And you can never go wrong with Arcane Sun.

Ceremonium! Ceremonium! Ceremonium!

Esoteric! Esoteric! Esoteric!

The bottom line in doom.

.

Also, Skepticism's "Stormcrowfleet" rules, and diSEMBOWELMENT. You might want to try some Nortt too, though they're doom-black. I'm presuming you know Cathedral already, but "Forest of Equilibrium" is probably THE classic doom-death recording.
