The trigun thread

I strongly agree. Dubs are disgusting, they sound shit, they are distracting, and ruin the whole feel of the anime. And the japanese language is so much better to listen to. After a while, reading sub becomes automatic. And eventually, you decify a lot of the language, and you barely need to look at the subtitles.

I'd much rather cute japanese voice actors with their high pitched Hai's, Iie's, yamate's, haiyaku's etc etc, than hearing some stupid american actor who can't act for shit sound like shit.

=)

i like my anime in bulk.

I just wish I had a chance to actually learn japanese properly.

Subbing Vs. Dubbing Huh?

Subbing's is definetly better, in the long run you get more acurate translations, instead of them editing the script to lip synch the characters.:yuk:

There are however, noteworthy exceptions to this fact, as sometimes (read as rarely) the translation and voice acting is done so well that the dubbed version can stand legitimately on it own 2 feet. The only one's that come to mind at the moment are Ranma 1/2, Jubei Chan: Legend of the lovely eyepatch, and Serial Experiments Lain. Lains only good dubbed cos watching multicoloured subs to see which disembodied voice is speaking is BLOODY CONFUSING!!!

Oh and as for learning Japanese, I had a passing familiarity with it while I was sustaining large hits of anime, but seem to have relapsed.

@ Kushantaidan: I'm seriously considering doing some basic Japanese language courses, then going over to Japan to teach English to mature-age students for a year (you don't have to know any japanese to teach though). You should look into it......

I must admit, the dubbing on princess mononoke was good. But that is the only anime I have that is dubbed.

I've heard sound samples from Trigun duybbed and it was horrible.

Lain is BLOODY CONFUSING no matter what...

I'd love to goto japan.

I wasn't going to go as far as to say that, but yeah, that's troo too:grin: .

The company I'm looking into (Nova Corporation) cover and/or help with a lot of your expenses while overseas like accomodation, travel, health insurance, cheap flights, etc.

YES. TAKE OFF EVERY ZIG

The reason i prefer subtitles is cause it seems more geniune to me. And plus those japanese voices rule like Vash and wolfwood.

Nani??!!

Princess Mononoke...
My brother rented that and i watched some of it, but not all. From what i heard in the background ( iwas on UM) it sounded pretty good.

i prefer subtitles much better because the voice overs that are usually used are awful. the only exceptions i've seen are trigun and princess mononoke, like you all said. even then, however, the original voices are the best.

i just got vampire hunter D: bloodlust, anyone seen it? its awesome, i mean vampire hunter D is a classic, but bloodlust fucking rules.

Vampire Hunter D bored me to tears.

Vampire Hunter D was one of the best animes i've ever seen, including the new Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

I'd rather watch animes subtitled, or dubbed in French. For some reason, they sound right in French. Don't ask me why...

Maybe dubs sound better in any language you dont understand..German? Italian? But Japanese is such a cool language thats all

Nani??!!

And the dubbing in trigun is HORRID. HORRID i tell you. It completely ruined it.

Vash is one of the funniest characters of all time, and the american voice is just so SHIIIIT.

...Uhhhhh, what he said. Trigun is attrocious if you watch it dubbed:yuk: . Sooo.. has anyone seen the Ranma 1/2 OAV's (Dubbed)?

P.S. Oh yeah, how do you move threads by the way.... PM mark or something I guess....?
