The (Un)official write anything you want page

Gotta remember that there are a lot of marriages that DO work as well, and a lot of benefits to those that do.

I might agree that exclusivity for life isn't healthy for anyone, but some people at the very least make it work with very positive results.

yeah, I have a few in my family that have lasted a long time and still treat eachother with a lot of love decades later.

I think the secrets are
- marry your best friend
- never go to sleep angry
- agree to swinging

If you're unhappy in your relationship and have children, they will suffer no matter what path you take. Either way (stay or leave), I think most would benefit from some sort of counseling. At a minimum it provides additional tools for coping and helping the children live lives free of any chance they may feel they are somehow responsible.

QFFT.
Marriage is work. Counseling is a must.
As for the other stuff you mentioned - your friends...every source I've encountered during my recent trials and tribulations has said that most marriages have major issues at around the ten year mark, even the best ones. No one tells you this shit before you're married. Just like no one tells you having children is going to change your life in ways you could never even fathom. We even took pre-marital classes and that shit wasn't mentioned. Fuckers.

good post.

I have so many friends who are dating people in their early or mid 30s and were married (at least once), some even have children. Some of these people were married for 7-8 years even, then things just went weird. Often sudden and brutally, its nuts.

I think another important thing is to make sure that each person is allowed to do the things they want to do, even if it means doing thing apart. A good relationship will mean that they will often choose to do the same thing. The couples that are basically glued to each other always fall apart (no matter how tight they look at the beginning).

yeah something like that with my sis in law.

i blame it on being together waaaay too long from an early age.
when you are with someone since you are 17-18 and then marry them ... 15 years later in your 30's i think you just want some "strange"

WTF?! Are chicks crazy? Did I miss a class on this or something? Maybe I'm asking too much to expect this chick to be an adult and realize that having an affair almost always ends in disaster. All I'm getting is "how did this happen? bbllaaarrgh!". I think where I'm going wrong is that I keep making an effort to explain it. I think I should just AVOID.

I find it difficult to watch college sports because they're just kids. Talented, yeah, but still just kids. That, and they're just a bunch of genetic freaks from the inner-cities. Many of them cannot put together a proper sentence. It saddens me.

oh man ... is this your soul mate? :loco:

haha yah...seriously. What was I thinking? What is *she* thinking? How can she be so......obtuse? How do you have an affair and feel justified in being mad that it came to a screeching halt?

It's funny how things become so much clearer when...well...you take off the proverbial rose-colored lenses.

yeah, all you have to do is distance yourself from someone for a few weeks/months to really see their true colors (or yours for that matter)

my thought on the matter is that all of us are nuts to some degree, it's how much nuts can you put up with that wins the game.

The more I pay attention, the more I notice how many people are strung so tight they're about to snap
