The Vinyl/Collector's Thread

Looks nice. I was buying vinyl when those reissues came out but didnt get a chance to order before it was sold out.

I have just the reissue cds. I used to have a Storm shirt but I wore it out and donated it.

My Dissection 3 LPs are on the way also... looking forward to that lot, though Reinkaos is not a great album - just bought the lot because i'm a completionist.

I've received a metric fuckload of LPs lately - will start cataloguing them now i'm on leave - will post pics of some goodies.

My new Gorguts - Considered Dead LP is one of my favourites, but to my surprise no-one has released The Erosion of Sanity on LP to date

Most special I item I had (sold it a week ago) was the Sepultura/Overdose split promo LP. It's clear vinyl (only 5 have been made) and mine was the only one that was signed by Sepultura.

Here's a pic:

I did receive my Dissection LPs. The Artwork is topnotch. It is absolutely beautiful with no image degradation. It is a gatefold with a diecut circle inside the gatefold to show the picture disc.

It has a small poster that include the lyrics on the backside.

The music sounds really good. I do not have any previous LP versions so I can't compare but this easily surpasses the CD counterparts.

The only problem I hear is a slight whirring sound when their is no music; in between tracks ect but is very faint and is common on picture discs it seems.

I am very happy with the quality of the set.

What kind of outer sleeves do you guys use? Are resealable ones ok?

edit: I bought these ... [ame]http://www.amazon.com/PLASTIC-OUTER-SLEEVES-RECORD-COVERS/dp/B003NG2WIG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1384153392&sr=8-3&keywords=record+sleeves[/ame] ... but they dont fit my double LP's, so im going to have to return them.

I bought a whole shit load on Ebay for 7" and 12" - they are cheap as chips, but not sure if they fit double LPs yet - need to check it out. I think i bought 50 of each size for about $15-$20 delivered.

If someone could post photos of those new Dissection records I'd appreciate it... curious to see what they're like.

Also, I have no money for them at the moment anyway so it doesn't really matter but I'm guessing it's a limited pressing? Are they sold out? Just out of interest.

Nice Strapping Young Lad City LP. I bought the reissue that Blood Music put out. It sounds phenomenal.

My Carcass- Swansong just shipped so I should have that soon.

Yeah, i bought the Blood Music LP as well, but i really wanted the above box set - came with an LP, CD, Box, Poster and a T-shirt.

Yeah, now they just need to release Erosion of Sanity on vinyl to complete my Gorguts collection - not sure why this is not on vinyl yet.

Bought some classic stuff, as of late. Show No Mercy (red vinyl, wish I would have got the back on black reissue, this metal blade release isn't even gatefold) Cause of Death, and Once Upon the Cross.

^ Gatefold LPs are much better than the single cardboard ones - i try to get gatefold whenever possible - The Crypt release some awesome gatefold LPs - love those re-issues!

Speaking of which i can't wait to order the ones in bold.

I'm not really assed about gatefolds... I know they mean more artwork and of course with double LPs each record has their own little home but - apart from that I don't really get it.

I have Anaal Nathrakh's Eschaton (marbled black/red) and the wax itself is probably the prettiest and most impressive I own, but the packaging i looks super cheap... gatefold but the front is sealed up, and there's not really any need for it...

Still, got no beef with gatefolds!

For the same or a similar price, I would rather have the gatefolds. I'm a collector mainly though, my vinyl only gets listened to on special occasions, I own cd versions and make mp3s for my player/computer so when I buy a vinyl, appearance is mostly everything to me. It's an album I know and love usually, and I'd like it to be as nice as possible. Which is why I nearly paid $50 for the rarest pressing of Hour of 13s last album.

Yeah, I'm in a similar position.

I'm always buying CDs & LPs of the same album - bands really need to start releasing packs for those interested, so you can buy both mediums for a discounted price. A couple of online shops do this now and then.

Layout/artwork is a big thing for me as well - sometimes i just like to go through all my records and just look at them etc... it's like music porn lol

Hey tnb, do you have Symbolic on vinyl yet? Less than $21 shipped on eBay right now: importcds has them, good seller but slow. They also have other cool stuff like beneath the remains, the terror tapes, and cause of death, slowly we rot, etc just randomly for about twenty bucks shipped.

I'll probably end up picking up Symbolic and BtR, but i would rather have some kind of gatefold cover or colored versions since i already have both on CD.

I really dont like the seller, whenever any of his items were in my cart on amazon, the price would magically jump up within a few hours. I know prices change all the time on amazon, but almost every one of his items i've put in my cart end up jumping up a few bucks.
