The what's going on in Thrash thread

I didn't know they were. But considering what part of the country they're from I'm not shocked.

I'll bet it would still be more money away from Vio-Lence. and will continue you to be if they aren't going to really go all in.

Are they Kid Rock fans too? :)

LOG are playing bigger venues than Vio-lence, although I wonder how much that will change when they stop touring with Megadeth, I think the Megadeth tour goes for about 2 or 3 months so it's a regular pay cheque that Vio-lence is not giving him.

Yeah I read that in his interview..whenever that was. It does make sense and I guess also the shorter setlist. I wonder how long it will take him to get back up to snuff.

Oh ok. I'll have watch it again to pay more attention to it.

Ever person is different obviously but Bruce Dickinson was doing 90 minute sets within 12 months of getting back into singing, so hopefully Dave has as good, or better recovery.

It's right at the start of Peace Sells, Dave doesn't step up to the microphone until the line "What do you mean I don't support your system" But I swear I hear the line "What do you mean I don't believe in God". Dave is walking out from stage left when the song starts so it might actually be someone in the audience and Dave just gives up on the line knowing he wont make it in time.

I don't think it will change. LOG actually does pretty well as far as metal goes.

Vio-lence wont have a regular gig because Sean is too busy treating it like a part time job. Phil obviously wants a full time job or he wouldn't be taking extra work.

Yeah I'd be very surprised if this ever changes. I'm curious about who the fill in is.

I was going to agree with the commentors and suggest it could be Craig Locicero from Forbidden, but I didn't realise he'd started a new band. Don't know much about them but this song does have some good riffage.

I'm not sure what to make of Peace Sells in the begining. I hear the fan or fans but it does seem like something is off with Dave.

I'm thinking the voice singing the first line has to be a fan, Dave is too far from the mic and it was a backing tape the media wouldn't have let it slip. I think he was slow coming out from back stage and stuffed himself up but not being there for the first line and therefore he had to start singing from the second line which can really throw a singer.

Okay so I thought I might have been a bit harsh to the new Destruction album, even though I rate it higher than many of the reviewers on the net have, so I decided to give it another go and note down my impressions. I don't go to this detail often so the band should feel warm and fuzzy inside that I bothered to do it for them!!

Good analysis and summary! I told you months ago if we don't write shit down we are just fucking around!

Still waiting on my pre-order to show up and received no notifications from the record label. I have listened to it 3-4 times on Spotify and agree with your assessment about the vocals. Schmier isn't getting younger and can't still belt out those highs like on Curse the Gods. The best move they did on this album was self-edit and trim any fat away. I don't think there are any songs that go over the 4:30 minute mark.

They have a show in Cambridge later in the month I should get tickets to see them live. :kickass:

Interesting how the old school german thrashers and the old school bay area thrashers seem to stay to their sides of the street. You don't see a lot of tours with say Testament and Destruction or Megadeth and Kreator.

It's been a while since I listened to a Destruction album, and I did cop a bit of flack for not rating them in the order certain others thought they should be during the poll thread, but I don't hate the band

1. Cracked Brain (1990)
2. All Hell Breaks Loose (2000)
3. D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. (2008)
4. Day of Reckoning (2011)
5. Born To Perish (2019)
6. Spiritual Genocide (2012)
7. The Antichrist (2001)
8. Under Attack (2016)
9. Metal Discharge (2003)
10. The Least Successful Human Cannonball (1998)
11. Inventor of Evil (2005)
12. Release from Agony (1988)
13. Infernal Overkill (1985)
14. Eternal Devastation (1986)

Why no love for 80s Destruction?

Yeah that makes sense. And looks like what happened. I was so tired I couldn't think of a reason why he started on the second line lol.

Interesting notice. I hadn't thought much about that. I guess maybe the Bay area bands just have a lot of their own to tour with? It's practically an endless supply. They also don't tour much with Flotsam or Overkill or bands like that. They do tour with them. But it's not a big amount.

I fuck around a lot :p

Some of the guitar work on the album is brilliant, it's fast, powerful and really does shred. The drummer isn't ground breaking but it's listenable, the album as a whole does work quite well, it's just a pity about the vocals. But it's more a pity because he proves it doesn't have to be like that because the guy can sing.

Interesting thought. I can't remember the last time I saw a one of the Teutonic 4 touring us a bay area band. I wonder if it's the times of years they tour or whether they don't want to cross swords.

That list would probably change if I did it today. But I remember sitting down with each album one after the other and doing that list over a few days, so there was probably some Destruction burnout happening too. However it was one of those discographies where I rated them all very evenly, so close that it was hard to separate some of them. But I generally don't do ties etc so while there is 14 albums in the list there might have only been 5 actual places by other peoples measurements. Also being the bastard I am I also knew that dropping those albums down past 10 rather equal 5th or something, was going to annoy certain people who can't resist telling people how wrong their every choice is. So in other words there was a bit of baiting there.

On my list. :kickass:

Yeah well I wouldn't bother putting the next single on the list. I don't mind that song, there is a good riff, the female vocals are okay, the song isn't terrible, but the next one released last year is a lot softer. Good on him for playing what he wants but I don't think it's for me.

Bay Area bands are just snobs :)

Actually I think Municipal Waste might have done a few tours with Kreator and Sodom, but none of the 'original' thrash bands that all started around the same time seem too.

Went through Destruction's discography last week in anticipation of the new album. Their 80s albums are on another level:kickass:
Eternal Devastation might be their best but through Cracked Brain they released some bangers. Surprised The Antichrist doesn't get more love, but am glad to see Day of Reckoning seems to be highly regarded.

The last time Destruction toured near me was in 2014 and I paid all of $40 to get a ticket to the gig, a t-shirt, and a meet in greet with the guys. The night of the show they did the meet and greet during Krisiun's set, right before Destruction went on stage. There were 3 of us who paid for the meet and greet...and the other two guys were total tools so I didn't stay long. Got on the tour bus, Schmier offered me a beer, which I normally don't drink beer, but when a German Metal Musician offers you a beer, you accept! :kickass: Shot the shit with them for a few minutes, drank my beer quickly, got a picture, and got the hell back into the show because I didn't want to miss Krisiun. And the other two guys were major fuckheads.
