The what's going on in Thrash thread

I guess it is a little strange that a reviewer hadn't heard of them but at the same time their first two albums did fly pretty much under the radar. I don't remember reading or seeing a lot about the band in the press even when Zetro was leading them. At the time it seemed like they were a secret band and then when they did come up in conversation it was like "what you don't know this band? What's wrong with you?"

I'm guessing the refined comment goes along with the 52 minutes of thrash heaven comment. I took it that he believes that new album is closer to what he considers is a classic thrash album than the other two albums were. Of course he's entitled to his opinion and without hearing it I can't comment but going by his review I'm getting the idea that he thinks this album is darn near perfect for the genre where as Overkill and F&J were not as good. It's a lot to live up to, it will be interesting to see how others opinions vary.

Haha yeah, I want the background props to. It takes me back to the old super hero ones with the fabric outfits that were just going away when I was a kid. I only have the slightest memories of them. I think it's the same company.

I was reading the comments on the article and thought it was interesting that someone connected KISS and their 'sell out' action figures of the 80's to the wide range of such things that are on the market today.

I do remember when KISS really started to commercialise things and they had a lot of people berate them for it, not that they cared. Now days bands are happy for the extra merchandise. I think the big difference with KISS is that over the years they've learned to control everything with their name on it, they don't just sell KISS toilet paper they own the complete rights to it, whereas many bands today seem to rely on outside help to push their stuff. Or in the case of Snake he doesn't even know when the labels do stuff with his band's name on it.

Yeah it's another one of those cases where they started talking about the new album too early and now months and months down the track reporters are asking about it and the band have run out of things to say about it.

If he had told the world what kind of statement he wants to make it would have given the world a chance to tell him how wrong that statement was :)

Picked up this album and the new one The Walking Shred, this week.

Not a bad find at a time when so many of the big bands are quiet on the album front.

I bet the singer could do a good Ozzy cover. I like it. What year is this one?

That album was 2014. There is a single on the band camp page from this years album which shows the band has grown into themselves a bit more and gotten tighter although the song listed is not the best song on the album. They do a cover of Lenny Kravitz on the new album which isn't bad.

I'm not sure anyone at and record label can read :)

It's ridiculous how movie companies and the music industry bitch and moan about piracy yet both of them almost promote it by making release dates for things different depending on where people live. Most of the time CD's aren't as bad as movies but any delay is bullshit.

I know I could download it from itunes, it's already out according to FB, but why the fuck should I be forced to do it that way just to listen to it at the same time as everyone else. Damn record companies making me wait a week for a physical copy.

Oh and on a completely unrelated note to the above I got a digital copy of this really cool album today. On first listen it sounds really thrashy, really cool and the singer sounds a lot like someone else prominent in thrash which he may or may not be related too.
