It's not their best show but it's nearly 60 mins of live Exodus so that's worthwhile.

I was reading on Metal Archives forum yesterday that some twat is sick of mentioning the band Exodus to people and having them ask if they are a Christian metal band. He must live in the Bible Belt or something, because I've never heard of anyone thinking that.

Lol maybe he's just really dumb and doesn't understand they are joking.

Even if he firmly believes he did invent it saying he wants credit for it all sounds so arrogant, it's one step away from Gene Simmons territory. If Charlie tries to copyright it and them demands payment from anyone who has used it we'll know Gene has taken over his body! To me though it's like everything, someone has to have been the first, someone has to have shown someone else, but with an instrument that has been around for so long is it really possible to claim the invention of anything related to how it's used?

The only way to know for sure is to ask Gene!...Hoglan lol.

Seems the band haven't done much and they aren't even listed on Metal Archives. The sound under the drums on the Gene play through doesn't sound too bad, and there is a couple of tacks on YT, but it appears they are a fairly new band. Still not a bad effort to run your own festival and get a band like Testament to play it. Although it would really suck to have your drummer not able to play such a show. Would suck even more for the drummer when he does get back to band practise and they tell him he's been replaced by Gene

There is dumb people on every forum in the world, but honestly I think Metal Archives has more than their fair share. Some of the guys are downright arrogant twats who can't ever be wrong and when it's proven that they aren't as right as they think their only comeback is to say they are right and anyone else is a long list of expletives. There are others who seem like they got into metal yesterday and then there is the black metal fans MA is a brilliant resource for looking up bands, their history, their releases etc etc and the search function is brilliant, but the guys who run the forum and site think the sun shines out their arses and that attitude rubs off on the long termers.

Haha I thought the same thing. I remember Gene talking about blast beats not that long ago, I don't remember him saying he invented them...or when he invented them ...but I still think Gene's a better drummer than Charlie! Maybe Charlie needs some of Gene's magic powder to help him chill out. I see there are a few bands advertising "Gene's Brand" powder now so they must think it's good stuff.

They do have some interesting topics occasionally and they are a good source for picking up new bands, but the conversation level is pretty low unless you're in the tight little group. I've found some good bands to listen to from their thrash threads and they are very broad with the bands that get mentioned, but there is a lot of shit to sift through. Instead of reading the forum I used to read the reviews in the bands section because they are user submitted, but these days they are moderated fairly heavily and the mods only have a sense of humour for their own comments. One of the best things the site does is show past links between bands and band members so you can often get an idea of what a new band sounds like by seeing the past history of some of the players. The forum part of the site really is just comic relief, you can't take them seriously and you don't have to engage, there are thousands of members with no posts on the forum.

I think I saw Bittner on the happy powder the other day. So if this magic potion make Gene the drummer he is an Bittner the drummer he is, it's gotta be some damn good stuff. Imagine what Chuck would be like with his special rollies and Gene special powder!

Machine Head is not a band I care about but Robb really comes across as a dick sometimes. I don't know if I'd go to a drive in concert (it's not like we have any drive in's left in Australia), but I give credit to the performers who actually are getting off their arses and doing shows however they can. It's like the guy from Destruction (can't think of his name), he claims anything but a venue/festival gig isn't real, however he was also bragging a few weeks back about how as a company the German government pay Destruction to not play through the pandemic closures. Some of these guys really do come of as entitled wankers.
