Not too many highlights this year unfortunately.

Opeth GR (as I think this is their best album since Still Life it has to be the best thing from 2005)

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (I am not really that big a fan of this band yet BUT this album is really good and really diverse I like it)

Nevermore - This godless endavour (again I´m no big fan BUT there are a few songs that really strikes me on this release setinent 6 being the best one)

Arcturus - Sideshow Symphonies ( A nice record with a good balance of growls/clean singing, really atmosperic too )

Orphaned Land - Malboo (the flood) Really nice ethnical progg/DM. This has to be the best release after GR.

hmm... There are growls at the end of the first track, but other than that?

BTW, someone said Enslaved - Isa, which is 2004.

Sorry for nitpicking :)

Opeth, and Nile are the two that spring to mind immediately. Incidently in the latest metal hammer - I get it free so dont flame my ass here please - it had the same thing as this. Overall GR came out as number 1 and most of the writers chose it as their number 1 and only one or two out of all the writers didnt place it in their top 5. Pretty good I'd say, unless you are anti Opeth getting publicity.

No order- most groups I listen to in my IPod frequently-

Opeth - Ghost Reveries (Going to be a classic)
Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine (always good lead guitars)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (It's Steven Wilson)
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor (Their Best)
System of a Down - Mesmerize/Hypnotize (The Frank Zappa of 2000's)
Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil (Very good melodies)
Annihilator - Schizo Deluxe (Back to the roots)
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked (Wicked)
Ackercocke - Words that go unspoken (The future)
Black Dahlia Murder - Miasma (Good thrash, craziness)
