Why do people need to clean their desktops?

It's messy, it slows down your pc and you can't enjoy the pictar.

Its a matter of principle really. Some people, me included, just have to have clean desktops. Others cover theirs in icons. All I have on mine is a recycle bin and a folder for new music. And iTunes. And Firefox. Otherwise, it is shiny sparkly clean.
