That's the point, Katatonia isn't catchy, and that's why YOU don't seem to like it, it's really something you have to spend some time to before really liking it.
Anyway, you seem to respect boysbands and the likes more than Opeth and Katatonia, who work very hard for the little that they achieve ("little" is compared to what the pop bands get ofcourse)

True, there mist be a reason... the only reason i can think off is that her music (well written by others anyway) is easy. So weak radiostations wants to play it, because they get money to play hers... that's the only reason I can think of...

you got me wrong there. for exemple i like Atari Teenage Riot or Anata which are not really catchy. but, IMO, not being catchy is an poor excuse for 'boring' in katatonia's case. and yeah, sorry but i think that katatonia are a bit over-rated, and so are opeth. but it's just my opinion, and i respect yours as you seem to dig both bands pretty much. it's all about perspectives and tastes

the reason why she sells so much is that she appeals to loads of people, and therefore that means that she's good at she does. you can't say a band is crap because it doesn't sell much, but it's good sense to admit that if a band/artist sells much, it means that it's good at what it does. it's good sense.
