Discuss this band. It has quite the evolution. I love Beyond Sanctorum and am going after the albums immediately succeeding it.

But I don't see the band as a whole discussed here much. Do it up.

Symphony Masses is almost as good as Beyond Sanctorum. It's perhaps the weirdest album they've released, and can be a bit hit and miss due to the insane experimentation, but when it works it's every bit as impressive as Beyond Sanctorum. Apart from those two albums, my favourite is Sirius B, songs 5-11 are the best Therion have ever made in this style imo. The way the drummer uses his cymbals on this album is really something, I haven't heard anything quite like it. It's not the one reason why this album is so good or anything, but I've never heard it mentioned before.

I like all the Therion albums.A'arab Zaraq – Lucid Dreaming is a trip,I enjoyed Gothic Kabbalah alot and can't wait for the new album.I bet they'd be amazing live.

I've never been a big fan but I like the odd song off Vovin or Theli, and the early stuff is fucking brutal, especially ...Of Darkness.

Beyond Sanctorum is some of the best death metal has to offer. Don't really care for anything else following it.

I didn't really dig Beyond Sanctorum, but everyone knows my taste is weird anyway.

I love Lemuria and Sirius-B, though. I can't listen to it in large doses, though.

Of Darkness and Symphony Masses are my favorites... havent really given the other later stuff that much attention.

Of Darkness and Beyond Sanctorum are both pretty fantastic albums. Really could not give a shit about their gothic symphonic whatever sound afterwards.

Beyond Sanctorum is obviously brilliant, and probably the best Swedish death metal album.

Uh, it's a good album but it's laughable to suggest that it's better than the best of Dismember/Entombed/Necropholic, plus lots more bands. It's not even close to being the best Swedish death metal album.

I always find myself whistling the ending riff to "Cthulhu"
