OK this may be old news to some or most of you. I just discovered these two great new thrash bands. They absoltely rule by taking old school thrash and add great production. If you love bands like old Testament, DRI, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, and Overkill then Enjoy. The two bands are MUNICIPAL WASTE and EVILE (Most of you will know them as they are touring with Megadeth though I sure wish it was WARMACHINE instead).

I don't like fueled by fire. They just sound rehashed instead of actually fresh. I prefer Merciless Death and Meltdown to FBF.

Bonded by Blood has also been getting a lot of press lately, but i find it hard to respect a band that took their name from a classic Exodus song/album.

Evile rules by the way, and I personally think they completely, 100% deserve the Megadeth slot. Perfect band for the bill. They will dominate.

Control Fucking Denied.

If anyone hasnt heard them, its fronted by Schuldiner(Death) and you can PM me for a link. It's one of the best thrash albums out there.

Also, MWaste's Art of Partying was a top3 for 07 releases, glad I saw em open for GWAR.

Well, Control Denied is pretty good, I wouldn't call them thrash though. Also they aren't really part of the revival since the album was released almost a decade ago. But it's still damn good \m/

lol are you serious?

They weren't fronted by Schuldiner. He only played guitar, and they most certainly were not thrash.

And as someone stated, they had nothing to do with the thrash revival going on right now (for obvious reasons).

Not a big fan of any of these new thrash bands except for Toxic Holocaust and Evile. Skeletonwitch is really good too.

Chuck was the vocalist on the demo and gave it to Aymar for the CD. And saying they're not thrash I would totally disagree, they dont fit any other genre.

And I didnt know this was a special thread but fuck it any way to get to know more bands.

Demos are demos. Tim Aymar was the frontman on the debut and on the unreleased 2nd album.

Definitely check out the bands I mentioned btw. :D

I just grabbed Skeletonwich's CD last night and I didnt really care for it. Checking Evile's emospace and havent listened to Holocaust as of yet.

That's what I thought when I first heard of Bonded By Blood. It's like calling your band "Heartwork". There's nothing wrong with naming your band after albums/songs (Firewind, Epica etc), but for the sake creativity use obscure ones!

And yeah Evile is great.

I picked up both Municipal Waste and Evile. I love the Evile CD, but I would consider MW more of a cross over band than a thrash band. For me, thrash has lots of solos, a bunch of cool riffs and songs that are usually 4-5 minutes long. There wasn't a single solo on the MW CD, one riff per song, and the songs only lasted a minute or 2. I think they have more in common with SOD or DRI than Testament or Over Kill. But that's just my opinion.

Completely correct, though crossover and thrash share a lot in common. But you're 100% dead on.

Well, at least Epica chose a different style to play than Kamelot. Embarassingly enough, i'm not familiar with Firewind's namesake... eep :erk: I think it's dumb that Bonded by Blood took their name from a fellow thrash band, and yes some obscurity would help

Just because he was the frontman doesn't make it his band. It was chuck's band through and through, as he wrote the music and recruited the talent.

Oh, and i've only seen Skeletonwitch live, but they rocked my balls. bought some shirts (they have killer artwork) and love the fuck outta their name.

Yeah, the Skeletonwitch shirts have a really cool old-school look to them. I should have picked one up. I really hope I can see them again soon because their set with Dying Fetus wasn't long enough. They're really nice guys too.

Evile is bone crushing! One of the best discs of 07. Another band to check out is Hyades, these guys can bring some thrash as well!

That's crazy.

Just a few years ago I was seeing Bonded by Blood and Fueled by Fire in backyards... never did I think I'd be seeing them mentioned on these forums.

Firewind was a Uli Roth (or Schenker? Someone from Scorps lol) solo album haha.

And yeah I totally agree that Bonded By Blood is a lame band name.

Difference between mainman and frontman. It was Chuck's band, but Aymar was the frontman.
