Through the Looking Glass

I'd be inclined to suggest that following the chronological progression is generally the best rule of thumb. For example if you listen to early Symphony X then you appreciate their later stuff more because you know where it's comming from :)

Also, reading the Lewis Carrol books might help overcome the inclination to dismiss the film because it was made by Disney. There is no getting away from the fact it's target audiance is children, but that can be said about the books too, as they were intended as children's novels. However they are so cleverly written that the story just naturally appeals to adults too.

At the end of the day, both are great in their own right, and I don't think it really matters which you look at first !

lol O god... :( Bringing it up would be like diggin into the forums history lol, search the forums and you'll hear about it somewhere I guarantee...

I'll give you a hint though... Its a book

Through The Looking Glass = one of my all time favorite songs, I find the emotion and crazyness of that song rather overwhelming! The Live version is rather impressive as well...I was a little disapointed when they had to speed up the bone chilling part... Still to this day Ig et shivers from this song... "Alice...Alice...Run Alice...Run ... And there she stood, in mystery, searching for the final reign within, a dream within a dream.. A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM. *Weird noises* Alice: I'm not Afraid" pure genious lol! I love the added parts on the live version, to anyone who hasn't hear it live, do yourself a favour and listen to it! ;)

What's the Silmarilion?
Let me put it this way..... Hmm....... Take the Lord of the Rings, turn the clock back about a few thousand years or so, throw in a dark lord more powerful than Sauron, three gems with the power to light up the earth, and the War of Wrath, which they talk about in the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring.
The Silmarilion is more than a prequel to the Hobbit. It's a masterpiece of J.R.R. Tolkien, which tells the history of the creation of Middle Earth and that kind of stuff.

From what I've gathered from countless discussions about DWoT, I've come to a conclusion that Divine Wings is based on Paradise Lost. (Please, for the love of Ptah, everybody, stop saying it's about Dante's Inferno!!!) I have yet to read the book though, so I'm not completely sure.

The only story I really want to know if there's a book for is V. Is there some sort of book that it's based on?

The Silmarillion is very good (owned it for like 10 years, finally read it over the summer), but the writing style is VERY formal, much moreso than the LotR trilogy, which makes it a pretty slow read.

V is based on various events...and DWOT i believe doesn't got much to do with Dantes Inferno... Personally, untill someone makes it official(as in a band member) anything is possible! You can say anythings based off of something just because of Similarity!

Aliens (the movie)

Than Came StarCraft the PC RTS game

Than we have Halo which is a complete rip off of Starcraft (not that its a horrible game)

All 3 of these things are so damn similar it aint funny.. Doesn't mean it was based off of its predicesor.

various Books/novels like J.R.R's LOTR and J.K's Harry Potter and some other authors Kings Quest series all have similarities... Its very rare you'll find a completly original concept now days! DWOT is probably just based on paradise lost, which has nothing to do with the Similarion or Dantes Inferno, since those books are also based on paradise lost!

Inferno was written centuries before Paradise Lost!

People who read books are losers. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go read my book. :D I kid, I kid.

I really have plenty of books on my to-read list.

I've just been reading all of Stephen King's stuff... I'm a book poser...

I read The Dead Zone in one day, about 300 pages of which were during school. And 200 pages of Pet Sematary yesterday.
