It has some great tracks (the first and last being awesome), and in between, I agree, it slouches somewhat., but even then, there's a lot of great things in there, both riff-wise and vocal-wise. I get what you're saying, but maybe after a few more listenings, you might like it more?

Well, many of my Christmas presents consist of albums from 2007, so I am nowhere near done with this year, so I can't quite make this list. In fact, I've probably only heard half of what I am set to hear. So, allow me to try this out:

if you're a fan of heavy music at all, you owe it to yourself to listen to pig destroyer's phantom limb. Don't let their name fool you, they arent some retarded tech death metal band thats all blastbeats. Its riffs aplenty with tasteful drumming and genius production.
