I'm about to do something very fucking bold, which people on this forum may not recognize as such, but this is quite possibly the largest revelation my own personal musical history has ever seen. Revised top 10 evAr list:

1. Tool - Lateralus
2. Tool - ÆNIMA
3. Danzig 4p
4. Faith No More - Angel Dust
5. Alice in Chains - Dirt
6. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
7. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
8. Supertramp - Crime of the Century
9. Nirvana - Incesticide
10. Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese

It is UN-FUCKING-CANNY how much I love Tool, and I just realized tonight that no other band, no other fucking ALBUM could I actually say reaches beyond the 10/10 level, but Lateralus is truly an 11/10 album. No emotion is higher. This shit is better than sex. My fucking god. End.

Oy vay, I tried to bump this thread for all the n0000000000bz but failed horrendously. Try again.

Anyhow, no way. ÆNIMA is the greatest album of all time, no question. Lateralus is top 10 material though, easily. Danzig 4p second place, everything else rotates.

You know, if you think about it, that entire list is "border-line" metal. Likewise, does that list suggest that Primus (at #10) is better than your favourite metal album of all time, Rust in Peace?

How does your collection pan out - can you break your CDs into the following %'s?

- metal (death, black, traditional, etc)
- semi-metal (the sort of stuff in your top 10)
- non-metal

If I were to venture a guess, I'd say:
-50% metal
-30% borderline
-20% non-metal

I've said this before, I am VERY picky when it comes to metal. Probably only 5 or 6 real metal albums would I give a 10/10 score to, but there are many many 8/10 and 9/10 albums in there.

Another thing is that ÆNIMA and Danzig 4p are the only real constants in my top 10 collection, everything else depends on my mood. Like lately Morbid Angel - Domination, Carcass - Heartwork, and Rust in Peace would probably place in my top 10.

Though this wasn't directed at me:

98% metal
1% semi-metal
1% non-metal

Approx

:D

I think I would be:

-70% metal
-25% borderline
-5% non (some drippy pop or xmas CDs, some rap or blues stuff).

'Borderline' meaning classic rock -> rock -> heavy rock (e.g. from Zeppelin to Radiohead to Guns n Roses etc.)
