good stuff indeed. a little bit low ceiling high floor for me tbh, i like a bit more ambition these days, but it's a tried and tested formula.
it's actually a perfect split of a third decent, a third mediocre and a third shit to me. it's extremely low ambition and more black albumy than old-man-thrashy, which suits them honestly compared to whatever the hell they were trying to do on their first couple of 21st century records. still disposable though, if i hadn't listened to all that flower metal shit at the top of the RYM charts maybe it wouldn't seem so acceptable.Surprised the new Metallica ranked as high as mid!
Yeah soul-crushingly lifeless bullshit. Lars' drumming doesn't help either. Such a boring cunt behind the kit.the worst thing about that album is, as always with metallica, the production.
