The whole "sounds like Metallica" thing is a crock, in that, if you go through the albums that you like, or enjoy listening to, and list them here, I am sure there will be some people here that could say "Oh that just sounds like "blah" what a rip off band!"

So what if it sounds like Metallica could have released that album - a good album is a good album. I remember once upon a time when a lot of us would have lovedto check out something that "sounds like Metallica!"

They are good, they have a good style of riffs, which to me are pretty catchy, even tho I like the vocals now, more then the previous albums...but whatever, I like them, and first of all who gives a shit about vocals, it's all about the music man :kickass:

metalages, I honestly think you're wayoff when you say people hate this band because they are popular or "hot topic" - ish

mastodon is one of the most popular + prominent metal bands in the world and is widely respected/admired on this board

trivium is despised because they are pop metal for children...

no offense, ofcourse

Trivium do nothing wrong. They just play their "more generic than you can handle" metal, with its silly ideas and its ultra super production, and people who haven't listened much good old school metal, adore them. It's the press people that praise them that need to be shot.

I'm never offended by another person's opinon, it's when people try to subject their opinions as the "be all end all" that I have issues with. It's a virus on this particular board.

Give Mastodon a couple more albums, if they get more popular, you'll see it. Another issue Trivium had is they started out marketed to the "core" folk more so than they are/play now. That never sits well with the "be all end all" chaps.

AGREED!!!! :kickass:

if you dont like the band then WHY THE FUCK would you even bother opening it and posting useless spam like, "close this fucking thread"

you could atleast give a few intelligent points as to why you do not like the band instead of making yourself look like a retard

I don't like Trivium because they are boring generic "thrash" that is basically plays a shit style of Metallica's "Master Of Puppets". Also they're older music was such a joke. If they do somehow become "good" then I would probably just ignore their older material. Just like I listen to older Sepultura, but ignore the newer stuff.

their newest cd sounds NOTHING like master of puppets, other then the fact that some of the vocals resemble hetfield. it definitly is a thrash cd for the most part, just with a few catchier parts, alot of it is pretty creative actually.

on the other hand
obvious rip-off of :A Slayer type solo
A Kreator type solo
Cheesy lyrics
poor attempt at a rammstein song
Poor vocals
Some of the drumming is boring

im sorry but anyone to even think for a split second that trivium sounds/acts/plays anything like metallica needs serious help....
