The first album and second for that matter didnt sound like Metallica at all. It sounded like the usual metalcore stuff around like BFMV etc.

"Playing your instruments very well" and have well executed ideas, means absolutely nothing.


If they had talent, they would write a good and intense riff or melody for a change, not just re-write riffs and melodies of others.

Now you're getting into personal taste. Just becuase one person doesn't think a riff is "intense", doesn't make it true for everyone.

They have talent and skill...you (and others) just don't like what they do. In which case, move on and listen to something else.

Trivium was labelled Metalcore because of the way Heafy sang that had nothing to do with what they sounded like...they heard him sing and bam, slap on the metalcore label...I know it's the obvious choice for them to be placed in the Metalcore genre, even tho to me the music doesn't sound too much like Metalcore, and you can't certainly palce them in Thrash Metal or whatnot...

Because of the groove breakdowns (which is perceived as being "borrowed" form Hardcore)...
