TSE X50 Beta

Well, what's to say...it's the best fuckin' 6505 sim I ever heard! Freakin' good :D
What about the CPU Usage? Do you think you can get a bit rid of it till the final version?

Sorry to bump, but anyone (specifically you, onqel ) care to explain "hi-fi" mode? I know it changes it to B2 sound, but here's my question; It sounds so much better when it's engaged, so why does the B3 not sound as good? What changed between B2 and B3 that was so drastic?

It's so much tighter and more "real" sounding. When it's not engaged the amp has a touch too much 'air' to it that can cloud the fuck out of your mix, make the guitars sound a little distant and so forth. Let me just clarify though; even with the normal B3 loop running, it's still better than most other amp sims and I fucking love this thing, I'm not saying it's bad at all, but after playing about with it last night it's just so much clearer in B2 mode. Just my 2c.

Changed a bad capacitor value in NFB-loop. HIFI-switch introduced to keep the B2 sound. (Huge impact on the sound)
:p

By the way, the X50 is just amazing. Using it with Lecto, a great combination.

Right, so the "bad capacitor" is present in B3, and the hi-fi button simply reverts back to the B2 sound to negate it?... so why make a B3?

The B2 "hifi" sound is the result of me misreading a capacitor value in the negative feedback section of the poweramp.. the B3 standard setting is supposed to be the "right" sound compared to the (right) values on the schematic.. How close the model is is a different story :D

Also, just something else I noticed, the Auto button makes the audio spazz like shit, any ideas? If I press it on playback it just gets stuck on the same note it was playing when I hit it, if I stop playback then press Auto I get no sound at all. :(

I've noticed something annoying : sometimes, with Reaper 3, the CPU use of one TSE x50 instance can increase at about 15 % of my e8200 (as seen on Reaper performance window), whereas I am on low quality. Regular use is about 7 %, and if I reload the VST on low quality, it goes back to 7 %.

Anyone encountered this yet ?

Another question:

As seen on some videos, preamp out of 5150/6505 gear and TSE X50 is really close in term of sound, so what matters is power amp + speaker choice on real gear or impulse/convolution choice on emulations.

Here is my question: what if I buy a reamp gear to get the X50 line out to my tube power amp and real cabinet ?

If the gear is good, will it sound good ?

For info, I've got a Peavey Classic 50/50 tube power amp (with EL84 ) and cabinets with both EVM12L and V30 speakers.

(I tried to do some "poor man" DIY reamp session with some 6.35 jack out from my mixer line out to the tube power amp input, and the sound was somehow thin, really lacked low end compared with my real gear and my PSA1 preamp which sounded really thick and ballsy in comparison. With this cheap reamp technique, it was playable but thin...)

Thanks !

Mattayus: The reason that happens is because the auto function isn't finished in the B3 version;)

chesterfieldblues: there could be some denormal problems with the plugin .. I guess the cpu load goes back to 7% right after you stop playback right?

I will release a mac/au version of it, but I don't know when I will start working on the project again.. just moved to a new apartment, changed job that involves beeing away 50% of the year.. I want to buy a mac, but they're so expensive and I'm afraid I'll regret it :p
