TV Shows

I just watched the controversial baby yoda epidsode. And I gotta say.....wtf is everyone upset about? That was it? Man, people really need a hobby instead of nerdraging everything

However I will take the 3 sequels over the 3 prequels.

Rogue One is the 4th best SW movie imo
Yep. Agreed.

I was a massive Star Wars nerd as a teenager and was deeply into the expanded universe. Before Disney took over, it was a very coherent universe with incredibly nuanced interconnections. The prequels had excellent storylines that fit into this overarching vision and then opened up an incredible space for supporting stories such as the clone wars comic series and novels. The prequels may have had issues as films, but they added tremendous depth as stories. Disney and the sequels annihilated the entire Star Wars universe and undid the storyline of the entire six-film saga and all the supporting stories of the EU in order to cash-in on the name. Screw them and everything they touch.
There is this funny thing that happens with Star Wars nerds depending on their age. Fans older than me hate Ewoks. Fans younger than me like the prequels. I am the generation that loves Ewoks but hates the prequels.

Yep. Jar jar fucking binks. Nuff said

Exactly.

And the nerve of putting Jar Jar into the end of Jedi for one of the special editions is maddening. Motherfucker leaps up and yells "WEESA FREE!!!" whilst looking in the camera. Fuck Jar Jar Binks in the back of a Volkswagen.

I have bootlegged DVD versions of the original unaltered trilogy. They are so much better than all the extra bullshit, it defies logic, sanity, artistry, and even commercialism to keep shitting on the original legacy.

Comparison shot of the original (above) and special edition (below). WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THIS.

Yep. Agreed.

I never understood the vehement hate for Return of the Jedi (with the older crowd, it often does extend beyond Ewoks to the entire movie). I grew up with it, haven't gone back to it in years but have as many fond memories as I do of eps 4 and 5.

Prequels though? Fuck. I remember seeing all three in theatres like it was yesterday, but the intervening years have faded so that the three movies remain in my memory as one long betrayal of every shred of hope I once held for more of the same magic of the originals.

Any love for the Aussie show Mr Inbetween?

Probably the best show I've watched all year (haven't watched many but still). It makes the best of the slightly clichéd hitman/family guy dichotomy by having a consistant balance of dry wit, surprisingly realistic dialogues and gradually dark situations. Episodes are short format (25 minutes), which is fine by me as it's more about the characters than any sort of convoluted story arcs. I'm reminded of what it felt like to watch Barry, even though it's just a comparison based on the format; the story and sense of humor are totally different.

The Mandalorian is good stuff for old school star wars geeks. If you aint one, you wont appreciate it as much.

All the hints and throwbacks to the original series are what makes it worth it. Season 2 has tons that I wont spoil. I finished season 2 on friday and was like wtf. And then that post credits scene. Hells yeah. Jon Favreau kept it simple and I love him for it

Forget all the baby yoda memes from people who dont know shit.

So the majority of old school fans have been let down by the franchise for decades and mediocre storytelling paired with blatant fanservice are all it takes at this point?
