Twin Axe Attacks, best guitar 1-2 combo's

OVERKILL-Rob Cannavino and Merritt Gant.
OVERKILL- Joe Comeau and Sebastian Marino

The band has had many twin guitar dynamo's over the years

Ok, then how about:
Hansen / Weiketh

I am not a big fan of Helloween. I actually had to google that, but I did recognize the name Kai Hansen. Didn't ring a bell until I saw the "Kai" in front of it though, to be honest.
In all seriousness, I love dual leads, but in my particular replies I stated two guitar metal bands that have a great sound throughout the songs, not necessarily dual leads as it wasn't specified in the thread. I don't think Malcolm Johnson plays a whole lot of lead.... for example. Having said that...... when the brothers Johnson crank out those rhythms together, it sounds scary good.
Another thing to think about though is production. Most of the Scorpions stuff was produced by Dieter Dirks, as was Accept's "Metal Heart." AC/DC had Mutt Lange for HtH, BiB and FTAtR. Having a great dual guitar sound has a great deal to do with mixing and production as well as artistic performance.... as I again use the brothers Young as a great example.
Southern rock bands really put emphasis on multiple guitars I might add. I think it was Brother John that mentioned Allman/Betts etc. Those guys were insane musicians.

I also liked the Cinderella guys. I remember the name Tom Keifer, but I forget the guy's name with the giant fro..... Jeff Lebar ? Neither were really spectacular guitar players when you consider even in hair bands you had guys like Lynch, Demartini, Bratta etc. but they sounded great on their harmony solos and they did many of them.

Michael Sweet / Oz Fox

Ok, ok.....so I saw Stryper last night here in SoCal and I'm a fanboy. But seriously, both of these guys can really play!! Are they Tipton/Downing or Murray/Smith?? No.....but still.

I can't believe it took 37 posts to get to Denner/Shermann.
'Nuff said!

What can I say!?! I'm a man of impeccable taste! :)

You also have to understand that there was probably not a note off of Melissa or Don't Break the Oath that I didn't know how to play! I learned both Denner and Shermann's solos (and rhythms). Once MF split up and King went solo, I continued to learn all of that stuff too (up to Conspiracy). I was seriously convinced that I was someday going to play in King's band. And no, I'm most definitely NOT a satanist.

BEST, not WORST, Rick. Geez. :loco:

I know that!

And you know I actually love the way our different styles work together. And I still remember the first time I learned that harmony part in D2C and couldn't stop playing it for an hour - I got so into it!! lol!! But moreso than the harmonies, I like our how separate solos work with each other. Animaulic is probably one of my favorite examples of this.

That. :)

As for the best, I'd really have to say Kiko and Raphael in Angra. Although Kiko may be the "LEAD" guy that most folks think of first, Raphael is as (or even more) proficient than many "lead" guitarists. When the two of them get going, WOW!

I can see that. Avenged Sevenfold kinda has that going too. I don't care what people think here. I've heard enough of their studio work and have seen them live twice and know that they can play! Gates is fast, precise and has good phrasing. Vengeance plays mostly rhythm, but he jumps right in there for some killer harmonies.

Firewind struck me like that too. All I heard going into it was Gus G this and Gus G that. I was equally blown away by the other guy who played at a real high level - guitar AND keys. And when they started dueling and he played guitar with his left and keys with his right - hell yeah!

I'm sure there are more too.
