Stargazer are the best death metal band going nowadays. They are absolutely phenomenal in every way.

I'd say they are tied with Crimson Massacre as the best current DM act.

Lykathea Aflame is the most unique DM I've ever heard. Their lyrics are also more positive than any other DM I listened to.

@ the Amon Amarth debate I believe Amon Amarth is unique "melodic" death metal as they are the only metal band out there that sounds like... well Amon Amarth.

Shit just about somes it up. It's the talentless version of digested flesh, a typical brutal death metal band. The vocals also aren't as good as digested flesh or wormed, and the playing is simple and sucks ass.

You should check out Godgory. I think they are excellent. Feast Eternal is also very good both bands seem to be lesser known bands.
