cop out of what? explain?
I dunno, I guess cop-out in the sense that it's like "hmm, how can we release an album but not have to exert the effort to write new material? I know, we'll just re-do the same thing that worked for us in the past!"

Yeah, anyone who has the "lack of vision" to discredit Baloff is BANTHA FODDER.

so live albums suck too?
Well no, I don't think so, because a live album is always only gonna be old songs, cuz that's what the audience loves to hear, and I like hearing new takes on old favorites. And I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy hearing those new takes done in a studio session either; I just feel in principle that putting out literally the exact same album recorded again rather than trying to be creative and write something new is just a bit, well, lazy/lame. I'm speaking totally generally and in principle here, mind you, not specifically referring to Exodus.
i dont understand the problem about re recording old material. Why not, its not like they are forcing you to buy it or taking the original back..... No one complains when a live album comes out.
In that case, lets hope there will be a successful masteringjob. Rise of the thyrant mastering is absolutely horrible.

name one band that has done this instead of releasing a new record. Its always just a side album so to speak, same as a live recording, usually to bridge the gap whilst they are writing, keep them in the press and shock, horror, maybe make them a tiny bit of cash which they probably didn't make on the original. I don't see anyone being lazy here. The only example of this I thought was lame was the tampering of the early ozzy albums.
