With the amount of racism in this country do you really think that a candidate like Obama would even make it through the elections before some crazy redneck tries to assassinate him?

You know, that COULD be taken as offensive to white people if you read it a certain way. Maybe, just MAYBE some white people would decide what they think of Obama based on what they think of his ideas, experience, and character. Agreement or disagreement does NOT mean an opinion about somebody's race.

I could care less what the color of someone's skin is if their ideas are good and they have the proper amounts of experience (both life experience and job experience) to do the job well. There are black people I'd vote for any day, and white people I wouldn't go anywhere near.

As for Obama--haven't researched him enough to know what he stands for, and until then I reserve judgment.

Some people aren't as open-minded as you are. Regardless of their race, there are people out there who don't give a shit about what others think if their skin is a different color. There are definitely minorities who think Obama has Carlton Banks syndrome and won't take him seriously.

In relation to the assassination thing someone mentioned, now that I think about it I would be quite worried if I was him and won the election. The amount of gunmen that u see shooting up ppl all the time in the US is just insane. Nevertheless it sometimes takes something drastic to fix a drastic problem.

I would be more scared shitless of the racial backlash that would occur if a president (or candidate for that matter) was assassinated for his race. Can you say rioting and (possibly) racial civil war?

The obvious solution is to choose a running mate no one would want as president. Just look at Bush/Cheney.
