US Housing Market Faggotry

I drank 5 beers after movingshit yesterday. During the 3rd I found it a good idea to rearrange the garage and repark the cars. That was fun.

Thanks Mike. And it was Stone IPA and Sam Adams Oktoberfest nukkuh, I still have some free $$$ before the first mortgage payment is due. :loco:

Oh man I gotta post a pic of my $4000 patio doors. In fact I've been meaning to take some Frank-esque pics o' random stuff® and post em here for amusement purposes

So, did those doors come with like a 19 year old UCLA stripper or a bottle of 30 year old scotch or something? Because 4K for fucking doors seems insane.

Whoa, you got your doors installed by Mastodon? That rules a lot more than their new album. Zing! :Smug:

I just did one of those "better to rent or buy" things from this thread and it said unless I can find a similar rental for $665 a month, I should buy. HA! That gets you a room for rent, half an apartment, or a miniscule cabin way up in them thar hills. Not that those are bad things of course.

Our slightly smaller, slightly better area rental was $1,325 a month, a bigger house up the street from here is going for $1,900 a month, and our mortgage is $1,658.40 with insurance and property taxes. What does all that mean? I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA, I'M JUST SO G-D DAMN TIRED.

Best part of moving: on the last day of packing I went and picked my sister-in-law up at the airport, fetched my mother-in-law, and they took me out for kebobs. There was a belly dancer and my broke ass didn't have any money, so ma-in-law broke a twenty and give me a wad of singles to put into dancing lady's g-string. All this while my wife was at home stresspacking the last of our domicile. If I ever, EVER complain about my in-laws, I am a stupid, stupid man.

Do any of y'all have experience renting an rv/mobile home lot? The husband and I are toying with the idea. Right now there's a really cool, recently renovated, adorable mobile home for sale in our city that we could easily pay outright for and not hurt our savings. Depending on lot cost, we could save a ton of money living in the thing for several years. I just can't find much information on the interwebs about lot rentals, and it seems that none of the parks nearby have a website. I have no idea how the process works.

My mom just did that, moved into a 'mobile' home lot in the country in New York. Pretty sure whoever owns the land is raping old people with rent costs for land, but that's just my opinion.

I think this is the only time I've wished I had friends who lived in trailers. If it were to end up being as much as apartment rent, then screw it.

 Fuckin' dorian.

I don't recommend trailer parks for all the obvious reasons. Now, a mobile home on a huge chunk of land? Fuck yes!

My friend in Montucky rents a chunk of his yard to a trailer family. Two things he told me about them:

"They're fuckin' weird, but they pay their rent on time."

"When you're ready to move up here let me know, I'll kick them out!"

After being owned by a mortgage for almost 2 months now, I must say that the only thing dumber than buying a house is paying rent. I could really use that $150,000 I spent paying someone else's mortgage right about now. In retrospect, it was like really boring gambling.
