Utrecht 04 December:

GoP
When
White Cluster
Closure
Bleak
The Grand Conjuration
Under the weeping Moon
The Baying of the Hounds
A Fair Judgement

encore: Deliverance

Awesome show! The venue was packed and boiling. Burst kind of sucked IMO, except for the guitarist who can sing quite good actually. For Opeth, GoP was played waaaaaayyy slow...a shame. Same goes for A Fair Judgement (totally Lamentations style). Highlights: Closure-Bleak, Under the Weeping Moon, and Deliverance ruled!!! I Also got the privillige to shake the hand of Dan Swano :headbang:

I know what you mean....I'm sorry, but Axe totally ruined quite a few parts when I saw them in November. He's in fucking Bloodbath, so it's not like he can't play fast. I don't know what the deal is.

Pretty good show, Burst was better then I expected, much more interesting than Extol. They only played about four songs, too. The sound was pretty crappy, way too 'bassy', and the EQ on the kickdrums was fucked. Apart from that it was a great show! Got a plectrum from Mike so now my Opeth plectrum collection is complete, hehe.

maybe it's not his fault... gop is a pretty hard song to play, especially for mike; maybe he wanted it slowed down a bit...

I really Disliked Burst.

But because of those horrible 20-25min, Opeth blew me away, even more.

taken yesterday..they rocked, as usual. Burst sucked. especially the bass-player..

I was there too yesterday, just made it on time.
and...WOW!!.
Ok GoP was slow but i rather listen to a song played well slow, than a song played not at all.
I was pleased to see Opeth for the second time, first time was on FoR. The sound then was not opeth sound.
Yesterday it def con4 was.
Really loved the ambiance, which was awesome.
Mikael seems to be funny too....

Granduous Show!!!!

Thx Guys ..see ya next time

I heard a bit of live version of Ghost of Perdition...it did sound slower, but it sounded really good (and that is from a shitty recording). If it is played well, I will not really mind hearing slowed down a bit.

But, for the record, I want to see the band perform with Lopez again so it can be determined what is going on with the slower versions. I mean, it is not a speed issue, Martin is plenty fast...the only thing he does not do are some of the subtle cymbal hits that Lopez does (which he could if he practiced it a lot).
I still give Axenrot plenty of credit for getting down the drums in a small amount of time and making these tours possible.

I spoke to Swano too. Also took some pics. Very nice guy.

Anyone going to the 22nd Dec Zoetermeer show?
