I think it had to do with what instruments they can or can't have in prison... he was restricted so he turned to synths etc.. I guess your not allowed to have guitar strings in case you kill yourself...

burzum are unique, and varg is unique. people underestimate his character, he is not what he seems he is. go to the burzum website, and read the interviews. quite surprising i think.a s for his music, i think it has become quite classic, and his works seems quite accomplished, and complete, if that makes sense to anyone.
