Recommend the best Death Fucking Metal on the planet. I'm always searching for more.

How are Dismember and Vomitory to get things started? Particularly their newest work.

Rate Insision and God Dethroned's latest efforts as well.

Best and most vile: Carcass.
Really good modern vile: Aborted.
Best death metal album (but not vile) evAr: Morbid Angel - Domination
Really really good death metal: Vader

1. Need some Carcass without a doubt.
2. Heard Aborted on a sampler and it was decent, but nothing special. Will look into it further.
3. Have it, excellent album, but far from the best in my opinion.
4. Have a couple albums, hasn't really grabbed me, probably just needs more time.

1. OMG WTF YOU DON'T HAVE CARCASS AND YOU WANT VILE MUSIC!?!?! Heartwork is second only to Domination, but isn't very vile. Symphonies and Reek pretty much began vile death metal. Then there is Necroticism which every needs because it rocks in all sorts of ways.
2. They have very tasty almost bluesy riffs at times, which I really like.
3. Best evAr! :D
4. De Profundis is highly incredible, some of their stuff can be a bit average though.

Oh yeah get Napalm Death - Scum if you like old Carcass. Or just get it anyway, it rules. :kickass:

Umm..

Aborted
Immolation
Suffocation
Neuraxis
Cryptopsy (NSV, BMF)
Lykathea Aflame
Blood Red Throne
Anata
Deeds of Flesh
Decapitated
Demilich
Hate Eternal
Asphyx
Psycroptic
Spawn of Possession
Gorguts
Autopsy
Obituary
Vital Remains
Mithras

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm not big on Death Metal as I used to be.

How is the newest Vader album? I have Litany and Black to the Blind and neither really caught my attention.

I've heard the majority of the bands Doomcifer listed, but there are a few I need to check out. Asphyx, Gorguts, Spawn of Possession and Psycroptic namely. Will look into those.

I need to pick up some Carcass and Demilich already, I don't know how long they've been on my list.

Dude Demilich is free, somebody posted the link here a long time ago and I reposted not too far back, search for it. Or just click this, whatever. :loco:

I just reviewed 3 songs from the new Vader, I was underwhelmed. Black to the Blind is blah, but I really liked Litany. Still check out De Profundis sometime, it's quite different. Lots of tempo changes, great vocals, and a great variety of death metal sounds.

Mithras is about the only death metal on par with Carcass and Morbid Angel to me, don't know why I forgot about them.

Aeternus*
Akercocke
Asphyx*
Bolt Thrower
Carcass*
Chasm, The*
Demilich
Hypocrisy
Nile
Pan.Thy.Monium*
Rudra
Soulburn (basically another Asphyx album, but it OMG RULES)

*= get now or you're gay

Standout albums:

Nile - Black Seeds
Pestilence - Testimony
Carcass - Heartwork
Aeternus - ...And so the Night Became... (it's folky black death I suppose)
Mithras - Worlds beyond the Veil
Vital Remains - Dawn of the Apocalypse (less vocals, less triggers, more organic)
Rudra - Kurukshetra

All of these fuckers push(ed) the envelope somewhat, without sounding derivative as 90% of DM does.

Also, read RC reviews for new The Chasm and Incantation for best DM of 2004.

I have Nile, Pestilence, Vital Remains and Aeternus and aim to pick up Carcass and Mithras. Interested in Rudra, though they seem hard to find.

Slightly off-topic...

I think we've discussed before, but there really isn't that much difference from brutal thrash and DM.

Vader and early Slayer is about on par. "Revelations" could very well be a lost Slayer album.

Listening to the new The Chasm right now, and I'm thinking this is so Testament/Slayer/Sepultura....

Rudra isn't too difficult to find. Just go to the Rudra homepage and they should have some links to where you can get their albums. Personally, my fave from them is Aryan Crusade.

Do not forget about Pan.Thy Monium. Fucked up gutteral vocals, everything tuned down like hell, and an occasional John Zorn-esque saxophone. Fucked up shit, man.

Hypocrisy - Abducted is a must. I haven't listened to those dudes for ages but for awhile they were one of my favorite bands.

Holy fuck buy Necroticism now. That is by far Carcass' best and it is one of the fucking cornerstones of grind/death. Reek is much more raw and along the lines of Napalm Death's "Scum". Most people hate those two unless you really like raw grind (Especially "scum"). I dont really consider Mithras to be "vile" death metal in the sense of Carcass, Demilich, etc. You also should definetly pick up Aborted's "Goremageddon" Saw and the Carnage Done." They basically picked up where carcass left off with Necroticism ( I still like Heartwork but the earlier stuff still wins out IMO). Its one hell of an album. Autopsy is really good raw old death metal.

Some more are Repulsion, Nihilist (Pre-Entombed), Circle of Dead Children ( there more Grind but there still very brutal), Regurgitate, Origin.

Get these - brutal riffgasms guaranteed!

Exhumed - Anatomy Is Destiny
Inveracity - Circle Of Perversion
Deeds Of Flesh - Reduced To Ashes
Deeds Of Flesh - Mark Of The Legion
Hate Eternal - Conquering The Throne
Insision – Revealed And Worshipped
Vile - The Stench Of Decay
Sepsism - To Prevail In Disgust
Gorgasm - Masticate To Dominate
Decrepit Birth - ..And Time Begins
Putrid Pile - A Collection Of Butchery
Brodequin - Festival Of Death
Cannibal Corpse - Butchered At Birth
Cannibal Corpse - Tomb Of The Mutilated
Decapitated - Nihility
Blood Red Throne - Affiliated With The Suffering
Incantation – Onwards To Golgatha
Vader – De Profundis
Dies Irae – Immolated
Immolation – Unholy Cult
Immolation – Close To A World Below
Suffocation – Effigy Of The Forgotten

AUTOPSY - Severed Survival !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah, forgot about Autopsy, thogh I always thought Mental Funeral was their best. still, cool ass death metal band

I went back and listened to Litany for the first time in months and it actually is pretty good. The first couple songs were above average, but didn't do anything special and then "Xeper" comes out of nowhere and blows me away. I busted out the booklet and read the lyrics along with the music and I really enjoy this band's lyrics. Xeper is probably one of the best overall songs I've heard in some time. The rest of the album ranges from above average to really good and I'm sure it will continue to grow. Litany is a good song too and the last few destroy. This album is probably like an 8 or 8.5 out of 10 now and I would have rated it at 5 or 6 the last time I listened to it, amazing what time will do.

Also took the time to listen to samples from The Beast and I liked it, so we'll see how it goes. Next is Black to the Blind to give a listen to.

Vital Remains, Vehemence (some), and Nile remain at the top of my list. Nile has been my favorite death band for a loooong time.
