What Amps Do You Own???

and some of the amps are so bad (you know which one I'm talking about ;) ) that I almost grew to hate the entire company....way too much hype around them.
I know, in the USA Engl still has got that "boutique" feel to it...
over here every 16yr old DM kid is playing the PB. by now the whole company almost seems cheap to me cause it's very difficult to not connect them with all those PB-kids
I am afraid I have to agree with you in this one Lasse. I remember when my only amp was my TSL, I would go over to a friend's house regularly to play through his Powerball/XXL rig, and I thought it was amazing. This was when I was more into djent tones than anything else.

...anyway. I ended up getting myself a dual recto, and since then, my mate has sold his engl cab for a mesa one, and is working out ways to sell his powerball so he can get a dual recto. It just sounds like the tone is missing some key elements that make it real, and instead, it sounds kind of compressed and harsh in a way.

Like you said, there was a HUGE engl fad that went around (and is still going around) and everyone wanted a powerball, but I honestly don't see what is so great about them anymore. I don't even find anything that amazing about the SE's...I mean they call it 4 channel but the thing still only has 2 EQ sections. Give me an Invader100 or a Savage any day. :)

Enough of me ranting...

I NEVER liked the Powerball, the Fireball ALWAYS sounded better to me, no matter how many times I played through both amps.

Well I think it's fair to say when I loved the powerball I was a bit of a nub when it came to tones because I was playing death metal with a TSL and a BBE sonic maximizer, and the rectos I'd played sounded horrible to me.

I'm glad I figured out how to EQ a recto properly since then. ;)

Well I remember a/b'ing them and thinking how tight and defined the Fireball was, and how muddy and fizzy the Powerball was. This was straight into both amps as I didn't know about Tube Screamers and the like back then, and I was looking for a Metallica-esque tone, and the Fireball was pretty close to that old school tone I wanted.

Sorry for taking this even more OT lol.

cube 30  hahahah

At first had I had a peavey bandit 112, then a marshall avt150 half stack, then a marshall jcm 800 half stack, then I sold them all because they were useless in an apartment and I bought a cube 30, that I don't even use since I'm always playing trough gearbox in my computer

Avatar 2x12's rule. What's the issue?

there's no problems with my rig

but this thread makes me feel like a chinese guy at a dick swinging contest

and to console myself, i'm going to keep telling myself that i plan on getting a 5150 and mesa 4x12 in the somewhat near future...

Bah, everyone is rich

Marshall AVT50 (speaker currently blown)
Roland Microcube (Reverb effect/knob busted)
Two very old Crate practice amps (15 watt each? not even mine, just bene in my house for almost a decade)
5150 block letter
Splawn 4X12 cab

Peavey 6505+

wondering which cab i should buy, my Hughes & Kettner SC 412 isn't really suitable for the amp + and the music..
The Mesa Boogie cabs are so god-damn expensive in Germany, i don't want to support that :/

You can get great tones from the AVT50 with a boost in front, just use the speaker out into your Splawn 4x12!

ENGL powerball v2...maybe there is a big difference from the v1 pb but mine sounds good :)
Engl standard cab: Had an engl pro cab and the standard sounds wayyy better than vintage 30's. I don't see the hype over vintage 30's they are honkey. at least with the PB
