What Amps Do You Own???

Even though I own 4 amps, I have owned a total of 8 (including the ones I have now) since I was 13, I'm 25 now.

I have owned even less guitars (6).

Yeah I don't buy shit that often, but I got gas for a recto bad right now. Plus I can get it for $950.

same thing here, except for the cheap recto part :(

but i've been gassing for one since day one basically....they're just too friggin expensive over here.

anyways, out of all the amps i've owned/played, the 5150 wins for me - even though there's something about the highend in a recorded tone that i don't quite like anymore. live it's the shit, though.

thinking back, the mesa dc-5 i used to own also kicked major ass....it wasn't suited for playing out regulary though, with the flimsy 5 band graphic stuff and the likes. sure, a roadcase would fix that, but then again that's money i could as well put towards another amp (and i did, next one was the engl blackmore ^^).

but well....i need a recto, dammit!

I don't see the hype over vintage 30's they are honkey. ONLY with the PB

Edited for truth. :D

I'm far from rich man. I'm a poor uni student who blows scholarship money on amps and has been saving for them since I was 17 (21 now).

You'll get there in the end. :)

He's already got a 5150 and Splawn cab, I don't know why he's bitching about people being rich, I'd take that setup over my Triple XXX any day!

I'm really into the idea of getting a 6505+. But I think first, I'll get someone to look at my Laney and get it modded; 6L6's instead of EL34's, and probably get a noise-gate built into the amp, just after the pre-amp on the lead channel.

Embarrassingly don't even own an amp.
I spent the last 2 years borrowing them.
I got a POD X3 Live recently, but since I don't have an amp I've had to use studio monitors as my amp when I jam with a band lol.

fuck dude, i'm 26 and my broke ass has had 3 amps in my life...1st was a 20W rogue practice amp...yea, that's the shitty little brand that MF sells

2nd was an ampeg vl-1002 w/ a marshall MG cab...that got ditched last year for the krank and avatar

yeah i agree that vintage 30's are good for most amps...like most of the ones you guys play:
rectifiers, 5150's, some marshalls as those amps are what you hear on most metal albums so it makes sense :)

vintage 30's really do make the powerball sound like shit though. the powerball is a great amp with a good cab though. try it with eminence or celestion v12-60's which sound the best.

speakers are just as important as the amp itself. vintage 30's aren't always the best choice..use your ears.

Jesus christ Andy, 6 Randall cabs? Marshall I understand for the trademark "wall of cabs," but why Randall? Endorsement? Also, how do you feel about the T2 and V2, both compared to one another and in general?

EDIT: And I'm surprised you don't have a 5150II/6505+, just for the sake of the different flavor

Man, I imagine Andy standing in front of that wall of amps/cabs with a ladder next to him, wondering to which amp he should climb up this time.
