Exactly. I don't want to feed the hunger of moneysucking labels, but I wouldn't mind buying one with all the best live moments on it (with Mike's public interaction in between). The introducing sounds of a show are magnificent e.g., and they haven't used it on any album to start with (which is a choice like any other, not bad at all - on the contrary: something exclusive for people attending a live Opeth show). The magic of those sounds in combination with the logo that starts glowing - indescribable ecstacy!

Still, sometimes I feel the need to re-experience the typical Opeth atmosphere in a small concert hall where' I have been (I've seen them 4 times in total; 2 on a clubconcert; 2 on a festival). So I can lock myself in my room so I can't be bothered and sink deep into the live forestial souds - once again.

The best kick off track I've heard so far (after the introducing sounds) is the leper affinity.

I want one. Just as a final album.

Because I have a feeling they'd record it live and not alter it in the studio afterwards, which is what 90% of all bands do. And that'd be so kickass! If I'm not mistaken the only famous famous bands to do that were Rollingstones and ELP.

Anyways, I'd also like to be able to hear Demon of the Fall live over and over again. Everyone knows it: it's fucking kickass live.

Definitely. I have bootlegs but a professionally recorded live album would be great! I'd really like to have them put out a live album of one of the shows they did with Porcupine Tree. I've been going to shows for 15 years now and I've never heard a performance that fantastic!

No. Unless it was a 6 disk set comprising of almost all of their songs, then no, not a chance. I'd only be interested in a live DVD with at least 2, 3 or 4 shows.

If I had to choose between a live album and a DVD as you describe it (4 live shows on it) I'd prefer the dvd as well. But with an audio part as well since I don't have DVD. Maybe I should get a PS2 after all :) (it's all I want for gamedrive/dvd-player - my demands are extremely low on that matter)

I'd get it. A CD or DVD, I don't mind really. If it was a DVD then someones bound to rip the audio from it so you could burn that for the audio CD :)

NO! Opeth is not a live band. Mikael said it in an interview I have, that he's not real big on the whole live album thing. I love that there are bootlegs in existence, and it's cool to collect those, but it bugs me when I see people selling Opeth shows on DVD on eBay, and saying the "retail price" is $20 like the DVD was ever commercially released. Trade the shows on blank media, yeah, but I don't want Opeth to ever release anything off of CD or LP.

I've seen Opeth live 4 times and while I've enjoyed the experiences, Opeth are what i call a studio band, that is they're best experience outside of the live arena, they're best experienced when you're sitting down, completely absorbed by the music eminating from your speakers and not in standing up surrounded by a bunch of drunks and shitty sound.
