Well, I am familiar with everything that went under the punk banner at one time or other from Minutemen and Hüsker Dü, the obvious Ramones, Pistols and Clash up to newer melodic core and pop punk...whatever.
What I want to say is: Voivod sounds not like metallic fury (anymore), but has that alterna-indie-and-whathaveyou nonchalance, if that makes sense to you. And as I said, the band is quite enjoyable still, but not as it used to be (says the one who's far too young to have known Voivod from early on...)
I have never been the huge Voivod-adorer either, so...
