What kinda style do you want the next album to be?...

Hunger has 420 posts. Huh huh. 420. Huh huh.

Uh, anyway, they do great ballads...just one would be nice to round out the album. Maybe the track before the last one. If bands don't get to try out the melodic shit every so often, they end up repeating themselves and getting uninspired like Slayer.

I want ballads, I think Testament does great ballads. The Legacy, Return to Serenity and The Ballad are all classics, right? At least to me. :)

Anyway, sound wise, I prefer the Low sound. I thought Gathering had a slightly sluggish sound at times (Riding the Snake, for example). So just a sharper sound and also a bit less growling and it's perfect for me!

Each of Testament's albums is very different then the next.......
Expect this one to be more brutal, in your face, fuck it up, deep and heavy thrash......

I wouldn't be surprised if a ballad came back, but I am not expecting it.

I know it'll be a kick ass Testament cd...but.....please....just one thing....

MR. PRODUCER! LET US HEAR DIGIORGIO'S BASS!!!!!! AND LET HIM PLAY LIKE WE ALL KNOW HE WANTS TO!!!

That's all:D

My ideal album would be an all-out brutal assault along the lines of The Legacy, mixed with some clean-tone stuff ala New Order, some shredding & melodic leads - maybe a mix of Legacy/Souls solos... no death growls, just old-school Chuck style singing, using some of those higher-register piercing screams if he can pull it off... less of the "John Doe" style groovy rhythms, just thrashy riffs.. all with a Gathering mix/production. :hotjump:

no fucking ballads!!!!!

If you can't appreciate a bands attempt to " slow down" , get serious for a bit and write beautiful and touching melodies, then I feel sorry for you. The Ballad, The Legacy, Return to Serenity and Trail of Tears are all amazing songs.

Anyway, I've heard from a VERY reliable source that there will be more leads on this than on The Gathering, and Eric and Smyth will both play their fair share.

I thought The Gathering fucking kicked ass, but I don't want a clone of that. I'd like some growls, but slightly less than The Gathering. I prefer Chuck's clean voice, but a few growls here and there are nice. I'd like acoustin intros like on The New Order, and a very brutal sound.

Elements of stuff that they played in the old days?

If the new CD will be in the vein of old-school thrash (ex. First Strike Still Deadly) and have lots of dual-shred/lead guitar just like Eric said then it should definitely kick ass. :headbang:

For those ppl who want more songs with only growly vox then that's what Demonic was for!!!! I don't mind when Chuck uses some growls like on Low record, but when it's all growling like Fall Of The Sipledome or Legions Of The Dead then NO THANKS!!!

It's been said before but Chuck has a good singing voice and he should use it more often! :Spin: :Spin: :Spin:

In my opinion Chuck should combine all his singing styles, like he did on the gathering (which was a great decision), but change the proportions- I'd like him to sing and scream as often as he growls. I really enjoy growling, but when someone has such an amazing clean voice (as shown on The Ritual and many songs from other albums), he should expose it as often as possible- but without losing the power, of course. On the gathering I only missed the high pitched shrieks from the early days and a ballad (will they ever come back?)

Hopefully no Ballads at all. That´s the only thing (in my opinion) testament is not good at.

Fast thrashing 4/4-songs like "Down for Life" or "The Preacher", with accessable arangements and more fast solos. I´m sure, Steve can do it.
vocals like on Gathering, singing-roaring-grunting-screemin.

Not too technical, plz no Deathmetal, and no blastbeats at all, it´s Thrashmetal!!!

and plz, the Killer-sound of the last 2 CDs *bang*

TestAmenT is not good at ballads?! I've never heard such an opinion before. In my opinion there are very few bands that can write ballads half as good as testament's slow songs. For me, TestAmenT wouldn't be as diverse band as they are without songs like Return To Serenity or Trail Of Tears. Besides, they gave them popularuty. Many people got into testament after they had heard The Legacy or The Ballad on MTV or radio and then discovered the heavier stuff. These songs show how great musicians they are (not that the other don't show it). You may like ballads in general or not, but saying that they don't do good ballads is something I've never heard before. Just my humble opinion, though

No shit. Return To Serenity is probably one of the best metal ballads ever written.

Anyway, I hope the next album will be a return to that Bay Area groove and speed that were present on albums like The New Order and Practice What You Preach..throw some Gathering in there as well.

Well, opinions differ.

But if i compare them to "Fade to black" or "A tout le monde", they do not - uhh - out of english - well, they´re worse :)
i actually like "the ballad", cause Chuck sings that one well and not too soft, but the others sound so power- and emotionless to me and do not have the quality-composition that all other Testament Hits have.

But that´s only my opinion, so i still don´t hope for a ballad.

I would replae it with one real brutal asskicker like LODT *grunt* And of course many of the classic Testament-Bay-Area-80ies-Thrash-Metal way.

BTW, are there serious dates for new recordings? And praise Andy Sneap!

I think Testament sat down and asked themselves this same question before they started writing "The Gathering". I'm guessing the band decided to take the best of "Demonic" and the best of "Low" and see how it sounded. The result was an incredible album. I think the same formula will work...take the best of the last 2 albums and run with it.

Testament has never let me down, so I confide in them and trust that the new one will be a masterpiece in the gathering vein (but not the gathering number 2)

Thrash with loads of fast and melodic leads, leads and more leads. We have to get the soloing back into the forefront of metal.

I can't believe the number of people that want more ballads from Testament! Let's be honest. Testament is not a "ballad" band. The days when an album had to have an obligatory ballad on an album are long gone, thankfully. The only reason metal bands did that back in the 80's and early 90's was to get some radio airplay.
I wish Testament continues with the style in The Gathering and mixes it up with some old school thrash :yell:
