What people think of SX's performance at PP

My friend went and he said SyX rocked, hes definately more than a metal fan tho.

Honestly, I think the one band that people should have ferrets put in their pants if they missed was RAGE. Everyone who saw them said they stole the show, and I think its a damn shame that a band like them has been around for 15 years, never play america, then when they do, a good chunk of the audience leaves cause they arent familiar with them??? Ferrets for them all, I say...

Rage is the band those guys were complaining about the most because they said the music was "innapropriate" and the reason for the "younger" crowd getting rowdy and "moshing". Just a little sarcasm there!

I guess it all depended on where you were for the show because I too was in the front row and didn't find a problem with the sound. Their set list would have kicked more ass if they included Awakenings, but I say that only because it's my personal favorite. I also think moshing is stupid, but I honestly didn't know it was going on behind me. I had plently of fun singing/screaming my lungs out and holding my arms up until losing all circulation in them ;) On the topic of Rage, I thought they were awesome, they were the reason I attended the second night. It was all the Everygrey nerds that left. :Smug:

I'm not a nerd am I? Lol....I love Evergrey but I guess they didn't make the top 3 most impressive gig since no one has said much about them either. Heck....SX, Evergrey, and Nightwish were the headliners and only Nightwish out of the 3 are being talked about. Actually most people think they stole the show. I like Nightwish, but geez, they aren't as unique as people think, it's just power/epic metal with opera vocals.

i agree, i know ill get flamed for this...but i downloaded track 8 from wishmasters kid (i forgot the name) and i really disliked it, i mean the opera vocals are different but overal its just mediocre power metal, thats laugible to be. But i hate power metal and this is only IMO

I didn't mean to offend anyone by calling Evergrey fans nerds, I mean I'm a Symphony X nerd lol so its all cool. I guess I just got upset that the Evergrey worshippers left after their set and didn't even give Rage a chance. I did hear that they all left for the band autograph signing, but where did they go after that? Whatever. And as for Nightwish...eh...thumbs down. In my opinion, everyone (excpet me) likes her because of Tarja. She really isn't that hot, but let's not go there...

Hehehe....they love Tarja so much they refer to the band as "her" rather than "them"! Just messin' with ya!

I know you didn't mean it in a harsh way, the first line in my reply to "Evergrey nerds" was meant sarcastically. BTW metal chick, on your site under writings you list at having a story about this forum but there is nothing there link wise to open up the story? Is it not posted yet or what?

I absolutely love Nightwish. They were amazing when I saw them play at Lamours. I think Tarja's voice is simply angelic, the best out of any female singer in metal. And I do think she's gorgeous to ;). but to refer to Nightwish as "her"...thats just wrong, considering Tuomas, their keyboardist, writes EVERYTHING. If anyone is Nightwish, its him.

and I dont think they're generic powermetal at all. Maybe some of their earlier stuff, but I think especially on their newer album Century Child they've carved out their own unique sound.

Without a doubt, Tarja has a great singing voice, but I don't like that opera element to her voice. It's one of those situations where there's obviously talent, but I just don't like what I hear.

Nightwish is a great band, pretty original, but they have moments where it kinda has that generic power metal feel, although they're one of the better bands in the genre. Maybe I should give them another listen... I can't even decide if I like them or not.

I loved nightwish, probly my favorite band that played. And yes, tarja's hot, but as Matt said, it's all tuomas. Still, i think they were the best there since it was the first time i saw them... it was just magical. As for the dude who was holding up the flag, i was fuckin' right behind him... litterally right behind him. I was right behind him as in almost getting hit in the face with his skull while he was headbanging. Ugh.

And yeah, symphony x was WAY to loud where i was sitting. They kicked ass, and we had makeshift earplugs (toilet paper... couldn't find any REAL earplugs because apparently atlanta has none) and it was fine, but it was pretty loud to the point where there was a bit of natural distortion that i could have done without, but i don't think the problem was unique to symphony x. Also, i was sitting down for their set (*gasp!!* but i had just stood up for like 2 hours while waiting/watching nightwish and couldn't do it for another two hours for symphony x) so being in the seats may have been different than the ground.

I also left for rage after evergrey, but it was not out of disrespect. Saw them at wacken, liked them, but wasn't really familliar with them and honestly, it didn't blow me away. So i went to the evergrey signing then back to the hotel with my awesome shit that got signed.

This particular Evergrey nerd was out in the hallway wreaking havoc with her friends - I could hear Rage quite clearly from there (that Too Damn Loud thing again), and it just wasn't anything I was interested in going back in to see.

Incidentally, Evergrey was apparently offered the headlining spot, but declined for that exact reason: people tend to bail en masse during the last band of the weekend, and they wanted time to hang out with the fans for a bit afterwards.

I did see rage for 2 songs and then left -like the other Evergrey nerds ;)- simply because it didn't do anything to me from what i saw and heard.

Seen Evergrey last weekend as well at PP in Holland. They played as last band right after Elegy. The Elegy gig was the most crowded gig that weekend so far. After they finished hardly anyone left and it was crowded during the Evergrey gig as well, even with the long delay (over an hour).

The difference between both venues is exactly the point why Evergrey didn't played as last band. At Earthlink the floor and outer lobby are whiped clean within 15 minutes after the last band finished their gig, so all visitors are outside the building in no time even if they want to hang around longer. In the venue in Holland we stayed over an hour after Evergrey finished their set and we didn't even were the last ones who left. So time enough for the band to hang out with their fans (who are their main support).

I left after about 4 songs of Rage. I had heard quite a lot of praise and was looking forward to them, but it just wasn't doing anything for me at all. It certainly didn't help for me that they followed Evergrey - Evergrey was incredible and at the Rage songs didn't even come close. It was kind of a letdown. I didn't care for the vocals either. I had no objections to them being at ProgPower and they seemed to be good musicians, but I don't think having them headline was the best idea.
