Just curious about the type of scenes all over the world.

In Adelaide Australia, there is a Metal scene, but everything is overrun by Indie. But its not totally dead. Infact its flourishing but we dont have the numbers. Those Pesky Emo's are still around but it seems like theyre converting to indie to follow the trend lol'skies.

lol.

I heard its full of car jackin hillbillies listening to john 5's solo albums.

There's a metal scene in Quebec, I recently discovered our black metal scene, which is bigger than I thought, there's a lot of little bands growing up. Our metal scenes include more popular type of metal in general, like melodic stuff with power metal and death singing à la C.O.B., and also a lot of pure death metal stuff. Otherwise, there are many nice discoveries to be done and very unique and special things here. And the crowd is very rough and brutal (in Montreal, it's more calm in Quebec). That's our trademark. I don't have anything else to say right now.

And I think metal is growing more and more, I wonder exactly why.. I hope it's just not a stupid trend.

Where i live in arkansas.

Its just hardcore.

:(

In other words, It makes it tough to make a band that is progressive death.

Raleigh:

terrible... terrible hardcore
terrible... terrible grindcore.

good black metal bands from chapel hill about 15 minutes down the road.

BTBAM from winston like 1.5 hours away but wouldn't really say they're local anymore.

Im from Chile (LOL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile). Here there are: The "mainstream scene" like reggeaton, pop, that kind of things that people keep listening all the time and i'm pretty sick of that senseless "shit"; In the other hand there's the "Underground scene", mostly metal: a huge number of Aggro (Nü Metal) bands (more popular), some Thrash and Death metal bands, and some Power metal bands. In both kinds of "scenes" there's a lot of groups, but in the underground scene those who are more popular had to left Chile for Europe (England, Germany, Sweden and Finland) in order to pursue a better future as a band, since here it seems that all the people (mostly teenagers and the so called music industry) are just focused on the so called "mainstream scene" (= shit).

Here are some groups:

Undercroft ==> http://www.myspace.com/undercroft1 (Death/ Thrash)
Coprófago ==> http://www.myspace.com/coprofago (Death/ Jazz/ Progressive)
Criminal ==> http://www.myspace.com/criminal (Death/ Thrash)
Dorso ==> http://www.myspace.com/dorsalia (Extreme Metal/ Progressive/ Jazz/ etc.)
Raza ==> http://www.myspace.com/razaband (Aggro)
Audiopsicotica ==> http://www.myspace.com/audiopsicotica (Deathcore)

Where I live is probably one of the most terrible music scenes in the US. There's only one metal band that actually is any bit unique in the state (they still aren't that good though), and everything else is screamo/hardcore bullshit. That's what convinced me to start a band that actually plays something different...

So. Knoxville. Place of Skulls. I guess that's it, but I don't keep up with the metal scene. Two clubs downtown will host metal bands. But one is 90% goth and the other is 90% indie afaict. Good blues and blue-grass tho.

Do hardcore people ever ask you if you use breakdowns?

i live in a small city in germany surrounded by bigger cities. in the bigger cities there's all kinds of music scenes. jazz, punk, metal, reggae, funk, blues, classic music, ... you name it. only not in the small city where i live.

guess i just don't know about the scene. when my son enters youth he can tell me about it.

what area of germany?

I know some fairly decent german bands from The Saarland region.

The scene in northern New Jersey is terrible. There are loads of "core" bands as well as emo and pop-punk bands. With that said, I'm sure there are a few good bands where I live that I haven't heard yet.

well I dont know about northern jersey, but I know Krieg is from south jersey. I've met lord imperial around here a few times (I live towards Atlantic City and he used to be around Somers Point...don't know if he still is anymore or not), he's a cool dude but he's also very very busy. you'd think the dude is inhuman with how he churns out releases.

North of Massachusetts, it's tough to find much of a metal scene. It's there, but in small circles. I'm, personally, not into many "scenes" (too old). I like many different music genres; and in places like Portland, there seems to be more of a neo-hippie scene (I guess). Whatever, it's all good. Can't complain. Just need to travel a bit for TEH METULZ!!!

I'm in Melbourne, Australia. In the northern suburbs where I am there's mostly metro, muzza fags that are seen everywhere. In the city emo's can be seen all over the joint. Especially Flinders Street station. And as for the metal heads, I usually see a few at my tafe in Box Hill other than that I only normally see them at metal clubs at night or at metal concerts in the city. Other than that they're hiding somewhere.
