What the hell do you call non-clean vocals?!

I see people calling non-clean vocals so many different things... it would all be so much easier if there was some kind of agreement. "Raspy", "harsh", "aggressive", "dark", "loud", "growly" (I hate this one the most!)... from now on non-clean vocals will be known as "dirty vocals" hahaha... makes sense to me...

Basicly the vocals used by death metal bands are called death-vocals. Listen to Chuck on Scream Bloody Gore to get a perfect example.

It's easy. You have clean death vocals and just plain death vocals. And anything else like black metal stuff I would just call screeching....heh.

Yeah, I always use these words when describing the rough vocals.

I started this whole thread as somewhat of a joke... I'm quite suprised at the number of replies. I truly don't care what people call harsh vocals! The whole "growl" opinion seems to be pretty widespread though....
