What to expect on a first show?

I'm curious to know as well, never been to a live show before, but with Satyricon having a new album out next year, I'll do my best to go to one of their US tour shows, especially if they come to Nashville. Are there any tips on meeting the bands themselves after shows?

Hope for a signing session after the show. Suffocation did that and that's a good way to meet the band and get some autographs/pics.

Not a good idea. You can get drunk at home. No point in going to a show if you aren't in your right mind. But do what you want.

It's surprisingly easy to get up in the front row if you're aggressive about it. Also, not hard to hold your place there. And the front row kicks ass. I was in the front row at a Megadeth gig in a small venue...:headbang:

Not cool to push aside females!

But yeah, other than that I agree with the no drinking advice.

One warning about being near/at the front: expect to get kicked in the head by a few inbound crowd surfers just before they are escorted round the sides by the bouncers.

Of course not. You don't want them to get hurt before you start scrambling around in the pit trying to grab as many handfuls of tits and ass as possible.

lol, when i saw cannibal corpse at the house of blues i took a high heel to the head while helpin this girl crowd surf lol

Shows are overrated. Last show I went to was Interpol/Lairs in Chicago. The sound was muddy, crowd was a bunch of fucking faggots and the opening band's lead singer should have been punched right in the face so he would stop dancing on stage.

The douchebag level will depend on the bands playing.

actually, there is some truth to this. if you go see a band like Despised Icon or Suicide Silence, expect to see a lot of twats in girl jeans and feathered hair. then again, if you're at that show, chances are you'd probably fit right in.

also agree with RH on the SOD thing. Anthrax never held a candle to them.

Alter, you're cool and all, but its obvious you've been listening to too much drone. no wonder you hate moshing, its the most anti-mosh style of music next to black metal.

I love how theres always that one introverted metalhead who hates shows and thinks he's to good for the rest of us.

Oh hi alter, I was just talking about you.

Haha. Well do love drone and drone live is...uhh....AMAZING. I just find moshing boring and I, for the most part, find a bunch of faggots who find selfs taking it a but to far and punching some one in the face and breaking a nose. I dont see the fun in it.

 I find a bit of truth in this about me.

hey Alter, just curious, and anyone else into brutal death, do you consider Inveracity brutal death or slam?
