What's with the Opeth backlash??

Regardless if Opeth has not broken barriors I can't find anything appealing about Hypocrisy.

I've heard about 5 albums that sucked imo. Almost all the material sounded like new in flames and nu-metal. Horrible vocals,music and production. I like oldschool death metal and even the first 2 albums did nothing for me.

The band is just embarassing to my ears or nor sincere. A lot of people talk how godly this band is making me cringe. I'm not going to believe this band has broken any barriers in metal. What's so musical or progressive about Pete. His production jobs for the most part have no balls at all. He likes mids way to much for my taste.

It would not be fair to put him up with Mikael from opeth or other progressive musicians.

Well just to let you know your opinion on Hypocrisy is among a minority.

I don't like Hypocrisy either. I've only heard three of their albums (given one was Catch 22, which from most reports appears to be their worst album). But no one (other than Susperia) seems to really think they are anything more than ok. So I don't intend to put any further effort into listening to their material.

and i love their old stuff, thier newer stuff.. and i think thats pretty retarded when you dislike a band more when they become more popular just because they got discovered

If you don't like Hypocrisy listen to Abducted. If you don't like that you probably won't like them.

Hypocrisy is actually very good. The Fourth Dimension, Abducted, and THe Final Chapter are really quite exceptional.
