Most of us hadn't lived in the 80s and there wasn't any melodeath or anything similar to dt.

Definetly the 90's, because the best albums were released then. In Flames, DT, At The Gates were all around and churning their finest albums, Bands were just coming out or releasing their first/sophomore albums that really showed creativity.

Yeah, I love the 90's.

Yes, but I can see why Jolty might be surprised. A lot of metal fans idolize the age when supposedly "it all began", even though they weren't there to witness it first-hand. It's not uncommon to hear rants full of nostalgia about how this or that long-dead band was so revolutionary we can't even conceive it in this day and age.

Exactly. There are so many kids who absolutely worship the 80s, and they rant on and on about how there have been no good bands since about 1993, blah blah blah, Nirvana killed metal, etc. I'm glad we don't have any of those on this forum. :heh:

Nirvana didn't kill metal metal killed itself. A tour bus killed Cliff Burton, and we'll never know if he would've stopped Metallica from turning into trash.

I love watching 80s shit, and 80s bands... good half of what I like isn't really metal, but it looks like a good time. I was barely alive back then so I can't say I personally enjoyed it

I got into metal in the late 90s... things have been great since then, but thats a special spot. Vote 90s!
