Which cd did you just buy?

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
AC/DC - The Razor's Edge
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist
In Flames - A Sense of Purpose
Firewind - The Premonition
Strapping Young Lad - Strapping Young Lad
Meshuggah - obzen

IDK if this counts but:

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV (regular package)

I've had the FLAC download (legal) for a while, finally received the hard copy a couple of days ago.

also I was gifted the deluxe version of Ghost Reveries by Opeth, including a fairly good DVD. I am very much looking forward to Watershed.

Likely to purchase soon:

Watershed - Opeth
Chaos Born - Catamenia
Unblessing the Purity - Bloodbath, if I can get my hands on it (Fuck you Peaceville, and your expensive EPs [thinking of Porcupine Tree's Nil Recurring])

Theatre of Tragedy - Storm (digipack)
Deathstars - Termination Bliss Extended

Will get In Flames' "A Sense of Purpose" quite soon. Probably some other albums as well...

Edit: Recently got the brand-spankin' new Lineage II Collector's Edition box and the NWN2 expansion "Mask of the Betrayer".

In Flames - A Sense of Purpose CD
In Flames - A Sense of Purpose CD/DVD Digipack
In Flames - The MIrror's Truth [Korea]
In Flames - A Sense of Purpose Labyrinth (3 boxes)

And, of course

The best packaging print I've ever seen for a record (actually, Ughi prints some of his photos on that, but it's the first CD which comes with such).

Enjoy your diminished framerates and crashes ("fixed with filters"). Though anticipating this game I was, many bugs indeed. Off-putting to say the least - I would have figured the PS3 version to be visually superior. And though they may look very similar, I still would think the higher actual resolution should belong to the PS3. Weird.

EDIT: Forgot this.

I actually don't quite care.

Yes, graphics are a tad edgy, but bugs?

I heard 360's version had framerate drops, which I didn't experience yet on PS3, even in overloaded environments.

I'm satisfied.

Meshuggah: ObZen (IDK if any of you frequent the Metal Archives, but the album is MUCH better than its' reviews there)

I found it... um... it drags on. I tried listening to it 2-3 times during a pair of 6 hour drives. It's a pretty uneven album; lack of song distinction is a huge problem. On top of that, controversial album covers are not that great a selling point... Deicide made a living off them... Meshuggah is too good a band to make a gimmick out of that. But maybe Obzen needed the help, I dunno.

A graphics whore like you not caring? I'm surprised. Also, it seems you're lucky. Read this article.

I disagree. With the occasional hiccup, I found the songs quite differentiated and pretty well balanced. There are songs I like and dislike on both halves of the album. Combustion and of course Bleed are awesome, Electric Red is not so hot. I do really like Lethargica, Obzen I started out liking then it got a little less so for me. I do agree it hangs around This Spiteful Snake and Pineal Gland Optics, but Pravus and Dancers to a Discordant System kick ass. Pretty even except that two song goof up. I think its deserving of an 80-85, not the 76% it has now. But hey, that's only my opinion. The album art is far from controversial or gimmicky - it hardly matters. It sets a motif, but what's so disturbing about it? That's the first mention I've ever heard of anyone caring about it. Blood? A bald guy? Who cares?

Hm, I'm not really a "graphics whore" - I don't care for Crysis, at least :D

But those hangups - never had one, BUT demo of Devil May Cry 4 freezed my system every time :) So I didn't get the game - fuck it.

Crysis, well, it eats computers. Any the game itself isn't even that good (IMO) - just a re-tooled Far Cry. It does look gorgeous though.

Good, glad to hear you didn't get hung up. Its a shame because the game is so good, and usually Porn- I mean Rock - star is good about quality control (except for Bully). Haven't heard too much about Devil May Cry though, sounds a bit shady. Perhaps Dante doesn't like you? (Oh wait, he isn't in the game anyway  :p)

DMC4 demo was the only game ever to cause my PS3 any trouble so far :)

Bought this for $20.50:

In Flames vinyls prices are off the fucking chain: closing on $100 each for LS, ST, Clayman picture disc and Whoracle (last 2 - not yet, but the auctions are far from over).

I don't care about the album cover at all. It comes with a big, fat sticker that says BANNED ALBUM COVER ART INSIDE!!! on the front. It's covered up just like Once Upon The Cross and Serpents of the Light were back in the day. On the stand at Best Buy that was plastered on the stand the CDs were laying on. So someone did care, and the distributer did use it as a selling point. :)

Still not convinced it's a very good album.

Jimi Hendrix - rainbow bridge

This is the most comprehensive edition(officially released)
combining the concert introduction plus additional songs played
but not included on previous releases
Pricey 2 CD set as there are only 1000 numbered copies mine is #780

I bought my copy online. It had no stickers of any sort on the shrink wrap. Sounds like a Best Buy invention, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was done in censorship or to sell records. Either way, its dumb. Its not like old Cannibal Corpse albums or silly gore- or grind-core bands that have controversial cover art just for fuck's sake.

As far as the quality of the music goes, to each his own. Meshuggah, like Opeth, seems to be pretty divisive (at least in my experience). In that regard, your opinion doesn't surprise or offend me. Hell, I don't think it will be album of the year at all. I just think it deserved more credit than what it got.

yeah, didn't mean to imply you were arguing it was a great album. i made this point somewhere else about Opeth, that the expectations for them are high and if they release something that others feel isn't that good, it's panned regardless of quality. i can see someone liking Obzen, just maybe expected more from meshuggah was all. they are divisive... but you won't find me panning or frothing over both. =)

i went to buy AngL yesterday and my favorite CD store here gave up on selling CDs because of the internet and it's an equipment store now. i'm going to cry... damn you, progress...
