Who would you like to meet from these forums?

I have met maybe two or three people in my entire life that don't wear shoes in their house. I honestly don't see why somebody would even give a fuck unless they really wanted to keep their carpets super clean. The only other reason is squeamishness. It's not like you're going to catch AIDS because you wear shoes in your house.

A lot of the time, I'm too lazy to take off my shoes, because it takes forever to take them off, or put them back on if there is a chance I might be going somewhere in an hour or so.

I also tend to go barefoot when I take the compost to the back, or when I go down my driveway to get the mail.

There is a difference between it getting into your house right by the door, and tracking it all over everywhere, which eventually then gets on your bare feet, and then eventually gets into your bed.

People go outside in their bare feet all the time. I used to see people on campus walking around barefoot every day. I wouldn't, because I'd be afraid of stepping on something sharp.

Yeah, my point.

And what's with all the fucking "wats" earlier? Piss off wankers.

Yeah well, when you guys start having to pay for your own carpet and its upkeep you might change your tone.

I don't understand why it's so hard for you guys to realize just how much nasty shit you step on over the course of a day's time. All of that crap whether it be dog shit, some assholes spit, some disease or virus, dirt, gasoline (if you went to the gas station), whatever you step in while taking a piss at a public restroom, you name it, that you're going to be dragging and stomping into your carpet so it can sit there and fester and make your place smell and look like shit. It's disgusting.

Just clean your carpet man. The world is pretty much covered in a layer of animal shit, so it's pretty futile to try and avoid tracking it into your home. I sympathize, but I just don't understand when people let it bug them so much. We've been living with germs for our entire existence. I avoid wearing shoes on my carpets, but that's to keep them looking nice; I'll wear shoes on the tile/wooden floors of my house if I have to.

Just to clarify, I don't like wearing shoes around my house, but that's mostly for reasons of comfort. I like taking my shoes off; but if I realize I forgot something when I'm in my car, I don't take my shoes off when I go back in the house to get it.

Two things:

1. I don't need to clean my carpets as often because I don't track in stuff from outside. Vacuuming is different, that's a weekly chore.

2. It's not futile to avoid tracking stuff into my place because it doesn't happen.

I have floorboards through my whole house and I wear shoes inside all the time. The floor gets mopped and vacuumed extremely regularly though. I do jobs at Asian people's houses all the time, some of them are so immaculate that you could eat off the floor, but others are disgusting. It's hilarious when they tell me to take my shoes off and I go inside and see carpet that has turned brown from the filth and food stuck to the walls.

I'm a cable technician. Internet, Phone lines and cable TV installs.

No.

The only odd smell in any place I've ever lived was the smell of my farts. Do you step in dog shit all the time or what?

It's not about smell, it's about the nasty germs/shit. Germs don't generally smell.

The most obvious ones is what you step on in say, parking lots and public restrooms.

It's all about comfort. If you don't mind wearing shoes inside then by all means go to town. If you think it's gross, take your shoes off. Respect other people's house rules. DUH.

It's not as hard as translating American movies into Japanese, where they only have two swear words and every insult from "dumbass" to "fucking idiot" just translates to "baka."

However I don't understand people who want to wear shoes more than they need to, shoes are uncomfortable and restrictive except for flip flops and sandals.
