My parents make everyone take their shoes off purely so their polished redgum floor will stay shiny. I hate that shit. It's a floor, for walking and putting things on. Marks and indentations are bound to happen and imo give a wooden floor character.

Edit: I don't get the King of the Hill reference. Isn't Hank a Propane salesman?

My carpets are deregulated.

I'm sorry, but this just isn't how society works. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone could wear their shoes on whatever carpet they like? It would be chaos, and it would only really hurt the little guy who can't afford to clean his own carpet (though of course we should be budgeting more money for welfare anyway to deal with that problem). You really ought to think outside your own personal bubble of selfish desires for once.

Cookiecutter got it.

My drummer gets agitated because I don't take my shoes off like everyone else before I go into his room. He does this because he's wapanese, but tries to play it off by saying that shoes are stinky. I told him that I'd start taking my shoes off in his room if he'd keep the carpet as clean as it is in the rest of his house and all the sharp and slippery objects off the floor. If anything, his room is the place in his house where I need to wear shoes the most. He hasn't argued against this yet.

But if you collected money from everyone in the house and invested it into the carpets, they would improve and everyone would benefit.

This is bullshit. Regulations are just a way for Big Carpet to maintain its oligopoly status.

What does the size of the carpet have to do with anything? Wouldn't a bigger carpet bring more advantages than disadvantages?

Band practice with shoes off? I thought I was the only one. And I don't like it, but to get to our practice space one must traverse multiple expensive-looking carpets, so it's necessary.
