We talk much but do we do as much?
Since this thread is about 'who's met firewind' after all, I may tell you how exactly I met Bob and Gus.
On the night of the concert in Sofia I had a chat with Gus while the Kamelot soundcheck was going on. I had a piece of fan art for him (I am a graphic designer/artist) and the organizers on the Bulgarian side had allowed me to go backstage, meet Gus, give him the fan art and interview him (I am a journalist as well, though only freelancing occasionally for the time being). So we talked about the new album, touring, recording covers and songs with female vocals, I asked him what he would do for a living if he could not be a musician and a bunch of other stuff as well. I also told him that I participated in a RockHard.de quiz where he plays three famous riffs and the fans have to guess where they come from to win signed Mercenary Man singles. "Did you win?" he asked, and I said I didn't but I asked whether I could win something if I gave him the right answer
lol
. He promised me a Breaking the Silence single because that was what they had in stock with all the other merchandise. Then he disappeared off to soundcheck and seemingly forgot about the single he owed me.
Later, after the show, I stayed around the tour buses for a bit hoping to catch him again and remind him. Then I saw Bob coming out of their tour bus and went to meet him and have a chat with him. The funny part with him was when I asked him to pose for a photo with me but my friend couldn't get the camera going for a bit and then I told him "See, I am just finding an excuse to have you holding me close for longer than necessary" and he laughed.
Then Gus showed up and I reminded him that he owed me a single but he said the merchandise girl had packed everything away. "No worries then," I said. "You can sign my brand new Premonition CD". And he did and also hugged me for a photo. We chatted for a couple of more minutes, I really insisted that they come back to Bulgaria some time soon and they said they were planning something for September but it was not certain yet. And then I left them in peace.
Simply chatting with the guys made me so elated, I don't want to imagine anything else. That's pretty much enough for me, and I'm a bit too old to be a crazy groupie now (almost 30).
