Who's stuff is the most diffucult to play(guit.)

For me, Michael romeo is the best!!!!!!! The first time I heard his playing, i fell in love with his solos and licks. He is so Amazing.
But I say that Paul Gilbert and petrucci are good ones too

xerox u played for 2 years and you think can play yngwie stuff? you're an idiot. :Spin: You're one of those newb players with a squire strat or a BC rich warlock that claims "I can play guitar! kurt cobian is tha l33t rofl rofl". :erk:
Okay...That's messed up...I used to have a Squire Strat, and I currently play a BC Rich Bronze Warlock (Slightly modified :)). And I always thought Kurt KoBANG! (*coughs* The shotgun being fired if you didn't know) was not even remotely that good. I worshipped Dimebag Darrell even before I started playing guitar, and I still do to this day (R.I.P.). But yeah...The only reason why I play a Warlock is because I haven't been able to afford a new guitar for the last 2 years, and I got that when I was still such a fuckin noob. I am going to buy an ESP LTD MH-50 (or MH-250 if my parents help pay for it) in the next few weeks though. :)

But yeah...That really isn't possible, I think he's full of shit.

Playing Yngwie stuff after 2 years really isnt that farfetched so i wouldnt knock the guy. I could play almost all of the first Rising Force album when i had been playing about 2-2.5 years. Just because you might not have been able to do it after that little experience doesnt mean others cant.

Ditto.

I agree, but there is a huge difference between: "After two years I can play all the pieces of Rising Force" and "After two years I can play all the Malmsteen Stuff"

Playing paganini's 24 caprices on guitar is probably just about the toughest thing out there. Check out www.eliotfisk.com where he plays a short snippet of no.5. He also has a cd of all 24, which I have.

Try hearing someone play villa-lobos etude no.2, now those arpeggio's will blow your mind, beautiful piece as well.

Bach's chaconne in d minor, while not the most technically demanding piece compared to some other stuff out there, is still quite difficult due to its length(between 12-15 minutes).

I mentioned before kazohito yamashita, who is considered by most to be the most virtuosic classical guitarist, has transcribed all kinds of ridiculous pieces such as Dvorak's New World Symphony and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody.

i didnt see where he said that so i apologize. WHile it is unlikely that he could play any malmsteen song after two years.....it isnt impossible so i owuldnt knock the guy til youve heard him

Paganini's 24 caprices are indeed hard on the guitar.....i can play the 5th, 24th, 16th, and snippets of others....i have the scores for all of them.

do you play them fingerstyle or with a pick?

i can play parts of them fingerstyle.....but i play with a pick 99% of the time. The only time i never use a pick is when im eight-finger tapping (like when i play Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin) or when im comping some jazz stuff. Ive always wanted to start playing classical guitar but have yet to get around to it.....as for now i wouldnt even attempt to tackle the 24 caprices fingerstyle.

Someone mentioned Smolsky... great guitarist. Wolff Hoffmann, great guitarist.. tough style and the best in my ears in his prime. Akira Takasaki.... great one. Jorn Viggo Lofstat excellent (Newer guitarist from Pagans Mind.) Romeo.... a given. Yngwie... a one trick pony but still super fast and super claen. Misha Calvin.... the best guitarist no one has heard of. Dio era Viv Campbell .... incredible style much like Wolf. Puts much emphasis on every note.

Well....I just thought I'd come back and say that I'm finally getting Jason Becker's 'Perpetual Burn' and Cacophony's 'Speed Metal Symphony' for Christmas. So now I have everything of Becker's except for the 'The Blackberry Jams.'

he might not be the best but hes still young i dont know if n e one has ever herd of him... Justin King is definatly up there with his finger picking he was playin his double acoustic guitar each hand picking on separate guitars check it out the song is called
"knock on wood" its worth trying to find it

What is Al DiMeola's most recent album like? I only have Elegant Gypsy and the live trio (Friday Night...).

I dont like his 90s stuff.... In my opinion his best discs are:

1 Land of Midnight Sun
2 Elegant Gypsy
3 Casino
4 Electric Rendezvous
5 The Rite of Strings

Fiday Night in San Franciso is an amazing disc o_O ¡¡¡¡

I think playing yngwies stuff like yngwie is exremely hard.his touch has something that others just dont have. and i think that comes from his insane natural talent.those vibratos.bends that match the pitch so accurately. its very hard

Xerox... Who do you think you are? Do you think that "Who is the fastest, he/she is the best"? Rusty Cooley & Fareri are just two of the shredders in the group of millions. They can play fucking fast, but can they play with some emotion/feeling. You should really listen some jazz/fusion stuf.
"I can play Yngwie stuf!!!" SO?! WHO CARES?

Ridiculous! :tickled: :tickled:

in all honesty its probably not a guitarist whos stuff is most dificult on guitar. Different instruments lend themselves to different tendencies as far as technique, phrasing, and melodic structure. An intense solo on a saxophone for example would probably be much more difficuly on guitar. try some John Coltrane or Charlie Parker solos on guitar.

As far as guitarists go though, guys with unique technique probably the hardest to sound like. Enver Izmailov, Greg howe, allan holdsworth. Sure other people can play faster or whatever but their kind of phrasing and the way the play things is unique and not very usual to most people

i dont kow about the hardest to play but lately i have been listening to these guys: stephen forte, jari maenpaa(from wintersun),johan reinholdz, mattias ehklund and all there shit makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
