Thanks for the compliment!! I was never asked to play in Atheist, pretty sure I would have if they did. I loved Roger's style. But obviously they did perfectly fine with who they recruited after Roger died.
For Cynic, no way. Not a good fit. I love their music, I love the guys, still great friends with them. And we all played together in Death lineups anyway. But Cynic, no way. I'm the one who introduced Sean Malone to Paul so I'll take the credit for some involvement with that band.
I have a vision for a future Darkhall becoming more aggressive, not really jazz metal. But less jazzy than my early 90s version of it. We'll see. It's difficult to find time to write your own music when you're really busy playing a lot of other people's music.
