I'll have to disagree with you here. But that's just my personal opinion.

I think I'm starting to see a positive for those "elite" guys who had been around for ages and when a dumb thread showed up they flamed the shit out of the user. At least it scared off people posting dumb threads. While every now and then they would flame someone genuine who had a decent question, we had less shit threads when they were around. Now they are gone, all these lurkers are having a garden party of shit threads. While I never had anything against them and I wasn't flamed when I started posting, I didn't like how they would shit on people with a decent question/thread just because they just started and were therefore "crap/noob". But they definitely kept the ranks tighter. Does someone else step up to the plate? Or is it just because we are in a dry period not able to discuss the new album? Whatever it is atm there are at least 3 unnecessary threads per day. Hopefully once the album comes out there will be plenty to discuss without raising useless stuff like Mendez's hair; then hopefully no one will have to step up to the plate and scare off those trolls and there shit threads. While I can see how it gets annoying how new users discuss "best album" when there are people who have been around for years and have discussed it endlessly, the new users obviously haven't. But Mendez's hair? Honestly who cares about his hair and what he does with it?

there truly is something sad about a heavy metal musician cutting his hair. put the fun "oh what a pussy lol" shit aside for a second. i remember getting into "real" metal in about 2002, and i thought there was something cool, in a fun and cheesy, yet serious and symbolic about metal musicans having long hair. then bam, in 2003 i fell in love with opeth, and i started learning guitar. the hair that i had been too lazy to cut now had purpose. i studied headbanging styles on internet videos. i took note of the metaphorical characterstics in the connection between the headbangers style and the music he/she was playing. (have you guys ever been into theater?) Not to mention the downright fun and unity that it brings to a metal gig.

so yah, i'll admit it, especially in light of the recent line up changes, when i heard and saw that mendez cut his hair, my heart sunk a little bit.
