World Cup of Failball

Meh, pretty much all of Europe is like that. They don't celebrate their differences usually, even between regions. I'm not even gonna touch states.

Haha I should clarify something: when I say languages, I mean REAL LANGUAGES. I don't mean silly, nearly dead dialects that have been spoken in two villages for a thousand years. They're notorious for that shit here. I don't give a fuck that you speak a specific dialect of Friulano or Veneto; I'm speaking Italian...it's your national language and if you can't speak it I should be able to punch you in the face for calling me out for not speaking it. Fuck you. Nor do I mean silly, retarded dialects that rear their ugly heads in the states like ebonics did in the 90's. TexMex isn't a language. It's dialect from people too lazy to learn one or the other.

aw, thats too bad :( ....is it cause they hate waffles?
Shoulda seen that one coming.

I was under the impression that people living on the same small island wouldn't be petty enough to hate each other and completely denounce any similarity between them.
I was under the impression that you of all people would realize the influence history can have.

Belgians don't realize NO ONE else cares. Same with the UK.
Americans should realize that they're the only ones who don't care about the rest of the world.

I do realize the influence history can have, but it should be something celebrated and not divisive, imo. It reminds me of 18 year-old Jews constantly bringing up the holocaust, like they were in a fucking cattle car in the 40's in Germany, or black people seeking reparations now. I think that understanding history is of utmost importance, but we should move on from there. But then again, I've never been one for traditions. Tradition just for the sake of tradition has always seemed a little silly to me.

And Americans aren't the only people who don't care about what goes on outside their borders...if more countries actually did care, the US wouldn't have to police the world, sadly.

I knew we were all doomed when schools were considering teaching ebonics years ago. Thankfully it got squashed.

EDIT: After a bit of googling, it seems it wasn't actually squashed in some schools, namely in California. The whole precept behind it was, "black students have a problem learning proper English because they never speak it at home." Yeah, let's dumb down the rest of our society because Shaneequa says "scrait" instead of "straight". Brilliant.

but da only way dem keeds is gon lurn iz if we be all, "yo in foteen ninny two dat nigga Columbus sed 'beyatch, im goin ta india fo spices an shit, DAAYYYMMN I FOUNDA NEW WURRL!!'"

 I'm in tears!

I had a kid come up to me years ago and say, "Can I has two moneys fer a money?" I still don't know what the hell she was talking about. I mean, it's like something you'd read on lolcats.

This is true, in the case that the particular issue or problematic is concluded. Jews bleating about the holocaust and blacks blubbing about slavery is bullshit, because those things are over. Some hostilities between certain peoples or ethnic groups, however, persist to this day because the issue causing the tension is still an actor. In Belgium, for instance, hostility persists due to lingual differences, but also political rot and an artificial and detrimental status quo forced on the country by politicians afraid to lose their precious office. It's not something you can just shrug about and say, "ah well, let's just geta long," because the cause is still present.

I'm sure it's not easily solved by telling people to just get along, and I won't for a second pretend that I understand what's going on in your neck of the woods, aside from serious, real problems with immigration at the moment. People moving in and literally replacing your culture with theirs, not only in ghettos and slums, but in politics. I would be a very confused and irate Belgian right about now.

...which I cannot explain considering the fact that I grew with it all around me...
I dunno, world cup is OK to watch here and there (and not all teams) but in general, it's my least favorite sport to watch.
...and I love sports.

He's calling you a retarded, uninformed American because you don't know the difference between American and European Football.

I was but giving a typically English response to the use of the word "soccer" :p
