World Idol

Blitzkrieg

Master Exploder
Did anyone else here watch this? What did you think?

Pretty good show, and decent performances all around (except for that German, the first guy, that was a f'n joke), the only bad thing was the way the judges comments were arranged, or weren't arranged as it were. If it had more structure and the judges were more constructive, it would have been better.

Anyway, I think Guy, Kelly Clarkson, the UK guy and the Norway guy were the best. I really hope Kelly doesn't win, any of the others would be alright. I felt so sorry for the Norway guy when they were saying if it was a radio contest he would win, because he is the best singer but an ugly cunt. He was good.

Also, that Belgium heavy metal guy was cool. :headbang:

he could have completely owned that judge who said a Nirvana song in pop competition was not on. Correct if i'm wrong but nirvana released an album called MTV unplugged. The only thing kurt cobain would have been rolling in his grave from would be because he won't be getting royalties.

The german guy rocked, he sang maniac, she's a maniac, maaaaaaaaniac on the floor. and she's dancing like she's never danced before.

what a legend.

i hope the lebbo chick wins.

Its a bit unfair putting someone with 3 years experience performing as a pop artist and 2 million albums sold up against the rest.

The polish judge rocked hahaha! "You sound like karaoke in an old pensioner house" HAHA!

I thought the best ones were Kelly (of course), the South African dude who sung Aerosmith, and Guy (not his voice but he performed really well).. and I think the Canadian and the Norweigan were ok too. I thought the UK guy who did The Doors was the worst, even worse than the German, I don't know why he got such good comments. What was with "light my fire light my fire light my fire! light it light it light it light it baby yeah!" he sounded like a faggot! That Pan-Arabian chick had a good voice but she was boring as hell, and I hated the grunge dude coz I can't stand that Eddie Vedder "marbles in your mouth" style of vocal, it REALLY shits me.

The South African dude who sang Aerosmith needed to take it up about five notches. The Canadian bloke was really good, the Hobbit was really good, Will Young and Kelly Clarkson just phoned in their perfs, the Arab chick was good for what she did but it's tough to judge considering I didn't know the material, Guy was good but didn't put as much effort in as he usually does (I'm guessing he's knackered - I bet the others didn't get voted the winner of their respective countries just last month), the German guy was too busy doing Tae Bo and looked like a tool, the Belgian metal guy rocked, and the rest were just forgettable.

Kurt the Hobbit should win it.

I voted for Kurt this afternoon, as I would like to see him win, and I think he was one of, if not the best.

Guy did well, but he chose the wrong song. If he had performed 'Climb Every Mountain' the same as he did during Australian Idol, it would have been a no contest, and he would have blown all the others away. He was still good though.

Kelly was good, but not perfect. I think the other two were better. T

he Canadian guy was good too, but just not good enough.

The Belgian guy was cool, and will probably have success in a band when all this is over, which is more suited (as one of the judges said).

The guy who sang Aerosmith had a very strong voice, but it sounded too controlled and not enough feeling.

The Arab chick sounded great, but she won't win because majority of people voting will not be able to relate to the material, which is a shame. Who knows though, she may have done a poor version of that particular song.

the thing with pop music these days that everyone seems to 'over-sing' if you know what i mean. They take the word 'baby' and change it to 'babioooahahahahaya', ya know what i mean, that shits me. The one popstar i can think of that doesn't do that is Robbie Williams, even though i hate the little fucktards guts, i give him credit for not trying to hard and making it sound gay.

n.p. Stabbing Westward 'Shame'

Blitzy, Guy sang What a Wonderful World during Australian Idol too. The problem with Climb Every Mountain is that, while he sings it brilliantly, it takes a while to really pack an emotional punch, and they only had a minute or so each on World Idol.

Personally I thought he should have done When Doves Cry. I love his cover of that.

LT, I agree that for a worldwide contest, the talent was pretty poor. Would have been good to see you blow them off the stage. :headbang:

Koich, that is a rockin idea.

Spiffo, that is fair enough I guess, if they only had the couple of minutes like you mentioned. I think his cover of 'When Doves Cry' would have probably been the most appropriate in that circumstance. I like his cover of 'When I Get You Alone' too.

It's amazing that some of these singers are praised so highly when they are only average at best. Put them up against Geoff Tate, Sebastian Bach or Tony Harnell and lets see who's a better singer.

I think every singer on the show was good, except for that German guy, that was just pathetic.

I think during the second lot of Idols we will see more talent, as people realise how big this thing really is now, and that it is more credible than Popstars and the like, so some talented people might come out of the woodwork and give it a shot.
